The year 2020 was a crazy time for everyone. Everything was locked down, no bars or restaurants open, people were working remotely from home, and life felt very uncertain at the time. No one knew what the next day would bring as it was constantly changing and unnerving.
However, one great thing came out of 2020: that's when we met!
Looking for guidance, I (Kayla) reached out to my friend and spiritual advisor, Michelle M. She is one of the wisest and most gifted people I've ever met. I had a reading with Michelle asking for guidance on life and of course the question.... "when am I going to meet my husband?" In her typical form, she guided me on the ways to make my life better and more fulfilling - which is what I was searching for. But then, like a lightbulb went off she said, "I know the perfect guy for you!" I then remembered she had told me years ago the same thing but said we weren't ready for eachother yet, and she was right. However, everything aligned in 2020 where we were destined to meet. Joe has known Michelle for a number of years since they both lived in the St. Michael community and he coached her kids in hockey. They became fast friends and confidants to eachother.
There was no time like the present, so she called Joe and I for a 3-way call introducing us. Nerve-racking doesn't even begin to describe it! We chatted briefly, a lot of nervous laughter. And as Michelle does in her infinite wisdom, she decided to go so we could talk - just Joe and I. However, because she was the host of the call, the call ended. .... awkward! Haha. But it makes us laugh now. I proceeded to deep clean my house because I was so nervous and didn't know what just happened. Eventually Joe added me on Facebook and we started talking.
Because everything was locked down, we were able to spend a lot of quality time together and embark on a new relationship during one of the craziest times in recent history. Honestly, it seems very fitting for our relationship. No matter what the obstacle: we handle it together.
We are very blessed to have similar backgrounds in our love for sports, traveling, concerts and amazing friendships we've both built over the years. Blending our lives was so easy and clearly meant to be. For that... we are very grateful.
