Kayla and Cam first met at MSUM through a Dungeons and Dragons campaign ran by, who was then just Kayla's friend, Keenan, not knowing that they lived just across the hall from each other. In this campaign, their characters ended up hating each other and they met some of their closest friends. To this day, Cam and Kayla still play DnD as it's a passion and hobby they both share.

The two started to hang out more outside of DnD, which lead to Kayla meeting Cam's friends and many chaotic Jackbox nights.

Finally got together on December 1st of 2021! Their first date was at Olive Garden in Fargo, ND.

Their first Valentines Day together! The two spent the evening building a Lego bouquet together, however, they didn't have a vase. Using what they had, it was placed into a Pringles can where the bouquet still is today!

Cam and their friend Taylor convince Kayla and Max to adopt Penny, their first pet! Cam and Taylor, while not together, were labeled as dad and mom while Kayla and Max were labeled as step mom and step dad. She lived for about a year with both couples in their respective apartments before passing away in December of 2023.

While Cam lived in Moorhead, Kayla moved back home to Fosston, MN for the summer. She traveled to Moorhead every weekend to visit him until moving back to Moorhead when the school year started.

Kayla joins choir at MSUM with Cam and their love for singing together blossoms!

Cam and Kayla officially move in together in an apartment on the Veterans Bridge in Moorhead, MN! They quickly brought home Leo, a cat that Kayla's family had owned since he was born. Leo quickly settled in and loves to watch out the window or whatever either of the two are playing!

Cam joined for his first Zitzow trip to Lake Vermillion! It allowed Cam to get to know his future father and sister in laws and Kayla's extended family. Cam and Kayla continue to join on trips with them when they can!

Kayla and Cam go to the Minnesota Renaissance Faire for the first time! Of course they dressed up too! They went with their friends Max, Taylor, Kaci, Brady, Devin, and Ethan. The group continues to go to the ren faire every year!

They discover their favorite restaurant, Rustica! It is located in a building connected to the building the two live in. The two spent many date nights, after concert dinners, birthday dinners, or simple friend dinners here. They became regulars that knew the names of staff members! If you ever have the chance, they highly suggest you give the place a try!

Cam and Kayla had their first international trip together, a carnival cruise to the Bahamas with Kayla's sister Tessa and mother Jennifer. It sparked their desire to possibly take another cruise for their future honeymoon!

Cam adopts the guinea pig brothers Montee (orange face) and Beethoven (mostly white face). Very loud boys! Sadly, Beethoven passed away in May of 2025 and Cam soon adopted Eggz, a black, white, and a little bit of orange guinea pig.

The two survived their first national trip outside of Minnesota without family, the 2024 MSUM Choir Tour to New Orleans, Louisiana! The two had such a great time and were able to experience amazing things!

Cam finally proposed to Kayla after almost 3 1/2 years of dating at Rustica! Thanks to their friends Paige and Ariel, she was none the wiser that it was going to happen and thanks to Paige they have a video and pictures of the event. Paige also was the goldsmith to help Cam pick and work on Kayla's ring at Riddle's in Fargo.

Cam and Kayla adopt Toaster S Trudel, aka Toast. She is such a trouble maker but oh so cute! Leo is a great big brother to her!
