Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Though this may be news to many friends and family, Kaylee and Brett turned the first page of their love story at the young age of 17. The couple likes to say that this brief relationship "fizzled out" due to distance and the pursuit of other interests each had. After four years of not seeing each other, once Kaylee returned to the area, Brett and Kaylee reconnected at a party a mutual friend was hosting.

The first official date took place in September 2017, the couple spent hours at The Thunderbird Lodge in International Falls, talking and laughing and getting to know each other all over again over a candlelight dinner. It was actually quite romantic and movie-like! It's safe to say that both enjoyed themselves, so much so that dates two and three took place all in the next week. As the months progressed, Kaylee and Brett found joy in cooking dinner at home together, getting to know each other's families, being active outdoors, tasting craft beer any chance they got, and binge watching Netflix series.

As months turned into years, Kaylee and Brett put their love to the test while traveling to many destinations like California, Mexico, and the East Coast of Canada. They quickly learned that Brett did well as the driver, while Kaylee was best suited as trusty navigator in the passenger seat. This was also the time period when the couple supported each other throughout their education and careers. Brett is now a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, and Kaylee recently completed her MA in Counselling Psychology in order to become a Registered Psychotherapist.

Nowadays, the couple can be found in their cozy home in Fort Frances, the one Brett completely renovated with his two hands. In April 2019, adopting a Lab-Shepard mix named Coco turned them from an ordinary couple into a family of three that spends time walking the trails and playing fetch. More recently, Kaylee and Brett acquired seven acres of land down 611 South in La Valle where they've made plans to build their forever-home in the next few years. The couple would like to welcome you all to their wedding website, and look forward to seeing you at the wedding!
