Our Wedding

Our "Ashton"ishing Love Story

We met through a roommate my sophomore year of college. My dad likes to brag about how he met Jacob first, as Jacob was at my first apartment helping everyone move in before I got there. He still takes credit for the relationship today, even though me and Jacob didn't really know each other until over a year later, when we "met again" at a country dance hall. We can both attest to this, but I'm not kidding when I say that the crowd literally parted during a line dance when we both saw each other at the same time and smiled. The rest is history!

How We Met 

So funny story...I didn't even realize our "first date" was a date! On Labor Day of 2022, Jacob invited me over for a Star Wars movie marathon with him and his roommates. When Noah conveniently had lunch plans with a friend, Jacob asked if I wanted to grab lunch beforehand too, "just to catch up", of course. We ended up eating at Blue Sky, a local Lubbock burger place, before watching Star Wars for the rest of the day. Over the next couple weeks, we continued to talk, text, hang out during random times in between classes, grab coffee, and go to Tech games, spending time together and getting to know each other better every day. And now here we are!

How It Began 

Jacob pulled off an amazing surprise proposal trip to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee! After a day spent ziplining and whitewater rafting, he planned out a long hike for the next day in which the proposal would take place. The 13 mile hike on the Alum Cave Trail was strenuous and steep, but he was on a mission to lead me to the Cliff Tops panoramic viewpoint at the summit of Mt. LeConte. And it was there, on August 16, 2024, as we looked out across the fog lingering through the Smoky Mountains from an elevation of over 6,500 feet, that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
