Here we go....
We met April, 21st, 2022 (Hints the Wedding Date). We first came in contact with each other through Facebook Dating. Clay's first chat topic was: Where in the world would I love to travel? My response was Italy. We hit it off from there. Talking about nap-cations and my travels (since I can't sit still). We met up fairly often in the next few months between him coming to my house and me going to his apartment in Wimberley.
Then the worst happened, my mom had a heart attack. I was already on the road. I had planned a trip with Josue and his boyfriend, Nathan. We were going to New Orleans for a few days before stopping on the way back to say Happy Birthday to my sister Mariah. I was on the phone with Clay when Mariah was blowing up my phone. After Mariah told me what happened, I immediately stepped on the gas. Totally forgetting that I could have dropped off Josue and Nathan until I was nearly there. I was in Houston for the majority of the next month or so, unless I had to come home for some reason. When I came home, Clay was my rock. We got together because I needed comfort and someone to process everything with plus I missed him. He was soo compassionate and always made time to calm me down or help me process.
My mom passed away August 24th. 2022. Clay had surgery on his neck and back a few days prior so he couldn't travel to go to the funeral with me in Oklahoma City. I went to him the night I got back. He was the comfort I needed after a long and heartbreaking trip. Only problem was that he gave me Covid.
The next few months we stayed in contact but Clay kept his distance. He says it was to give me and my family time to adjust. My family moved in with me during and after my mom's heart attack/death. I think he freaked out... I'm probably more right.
Easter 2023 - Clay surprised me by coming over and hanging out with my family for the holiday. We talked and enjoyed the day together.
Clay's 40th Birthday - I went up to Wimberley and spent the night before and the night of his birthday with him. We spent the day doing a whole list of things that I won't bore you with. I think it really surprised him that with all the things going on in my life, that I took the time to spend that special day with him. I think that is finally when it stuck in his head that I was sticking around and we might actually have a future together.
July 2023 - We planned a trip up to Oklahoma so that Clay could meet the other half of my family. Then we went to Arkansas so that I could met his son. We had the best time. I think this is when Clay really fell in love with me. He saw how well he fit in with my family as well as how well I got along with Hunter and his mom, Stephinee.
August 2023 - Clay had some issues with the apartment and came to stay with me until they were fixed. That took a week. When Clay went back home after spending that much time at my house, he found it hard to sleep without being next to me. Same went for me, I barely slept the few days after that. One thing led to another and Clay ended up moving in with me by the end of the month.
September 21st, 2023 - Clay had been carrying around a ring that his mom had given him. It was his great-grandmothers. He decided he couldn't wait any longer and proposed. Of course, I said yes!
