“Mates Got A Name”

That was the opening line, splattered across the table by Calvin John after I ordered a drink from the waiter who I referred to as “mate”. Needless to say, I was far from impressed and and my peaceful afternoon at the Dainfern Clubhouse was disrupted. I left to attend to work, pondering over who the hell this toss thought he was…

single and not ready to mingle

One month (to the day - not counting) had passed since our first encounter and I had long forgotten (not really) about this rude imbecile. We bumped into each other at a mutual friends birthday at Dainfern Clubhouse, where we naturally gravitated towards one another. I am guessing it's purely because we were the only singles there and had no one else to talk to, and no one who would really be interested in my stories about the bush and how an elephant had chased an ambulance and my car down a hill in the Kruger... (story for another time). The night went on with a few too many soul gazing eye locks. I left the party and thought hmmph, maybe he isn't that bad.

Friday Fate 

A few weeks went by, and if you would believe, I found myself at the Dainfern Clubhouse AGAIN and there he was AGAIN. Enjoying a few drinks, amongst mutual friends, we sat across from each other, our lips locked in conversations that never seemed to end, glistening eyes that always found each other and some seriously flirtatious chirps darted back and fourth... Eish, this was the start of a love story. I didn't really know then, but my butterflies danced around with a certainty that was unfamiliar.

The following day, in a strange turn of events, after a day full of mischief with friends, we ended up at the bloody Dainfern Clubhouse. Calvin John was not there. I was not happy about this and it needed to be rectified immediately. We had not quite reached the stage of exchanging numbers, but, I did follow him on Instagram... "Calvin""Where art thou"?"!!!""Ooooi""You" After two hours with no response, my friend reached out to him and basically said, what the f is wrong with you - I thought you liked this girl and now, you are ignoring her. He claimed that he didn't get notifications on Instagram... Shortly after the call was made, I received a response on Instagram to say "I'm coming now." When he arrived, I took him by the hand, dragged him to the grass bank under the stars, where we "chatted." The night to follow was spent on the dance floor, where Calvin awkwardly showcased his two left feet.

Divine Intervention 

In an unfortunate turn of events, I managed to break my foot - thanks to a size 12 pair of clog-like high heels (not mine), which meant I was forced to stay put... in the final week of my R&amp;R, Calvin invited me to an "Afrikaburn" party

Directions To Karongwe Game Reserve

From Johannesburg: Take the N4 motorway towards Mbombela (Nelspruit), passing eMalahleni (Witbank) and MiddleburgTurn left into eMakhazeni (Belfast)Once in eMakhazeni, follow the signs and turn right towards Dullstroom, passing through Mashishing (Lydenburg)Continue on the R36 to Ohrigstad and the JG Strydom TunnelApproximately 10km after the tunnel, turn left onto the R36 Towards Tzaneen. The Karongwe Game Reserve is situated on your right, with the lodges located as follows: Kuname – 24kmRiver Lodge, Chisomo &amp; Becks Safari Lodge – 27km
