One question we always get is "how did you two meet?". When we say “high school,” people often assume we’re high school sweethearts, but we didn’t start dating until much later. After years of being friendly and catching up during school breaks, we finally started dating at the end of our junior year of college. That year we took busses back and forth between UMass and Boston, met each other’s friends and families, and celebrated our first anniversary in 2020 while locked down. The fact that Kearsten was able to stay in Luke’s college house for 3 months without running for the hills was proof enough to him that she would be around for the long haul.
Throughout the years we have discovered shared loves of good food and drink, new adventures, and the occasional lazy Sunday. We’ve hiked new mountains across the US, explored other countries, and tried countless new meals (with cocktail pairings of course). After Kearsten finished grad school, we found our dream apartment in Somerville and have been lucky enough to explore a new (to Luke) city together over the past 2 years. Being able to share our favorite things with each other, and with our friends and families, has given us so much joy in the past six years. We can’t wait for a lifetime more of it.
On one of our first dates in Boston, Kearsten took Luke around the city’s North End on a cannoli tour and snuck him up on to a rooftop to eat pastries and look at the night skyline. That night she told him she loved him, and his life changed forever. 5 years later, Luke proposed to her on a rooftop just around the corner from that one, with a box full of cannolis by his side.
