Q: Where are welcome drinks and what is the vibe?
A: We have selected a very “Brooklyn” site to welcome folks to our wedding weekend. The bar is located in an area called DUMBO, which stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.” Until 15-20 years ago, this area was largely industrial buildings and warehouses… today it is a lively neighborhood filled with new apartments, art galleries, restaurants and bars. If your schedule permits, arrive a bit early so you can walk down to the waterfront for a carousel ride and amazing views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the Brooklyn Marriott/downtown Brooklyn or a 5-10 minute cab ride. For those coming from Manhattan, the York Stret F stop or the High Street A/C stop are good public transport options.
Q: Is the wedding inside or outside?
A: As long as the weather cooperates, the ceremony and cocktail reception will be outside. The audience will be facing west at sunset so we recommend bringing sunglasses. We will move inside for dinner and dancing.
Q: What is the suggested wedding night attire?
A: We are hoping guests will enjoy the excuse for getting decked out for a night on the town in NYC. Suits or tuxedos for the men and party dresses for the ladies… and of course comfortable shoes for lots of dancing!
Q: What is the best way to get to the ceremony?
A: As guests will be arriving from many points across the city, we have not attempted to organize group transport, but cabs and Ubers are plentiful and will be able to drop you off and pick you up right at the event space on the end of the pier. From the Brooklyn Marriott the ride is less than 3 miles and should take 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. For anyone local interested in driving, valet parking is available on site.
Q: How does brunch work?
A: For anyone whose schedule or inclination permits, we’d love to say goodbye over a relaxed brunch on Sunday morning. This will be a drop-in, buffet style gathering from 10 am – 1:00 pm. We have chosen yet another Brooklyn Waterfront location that is about a 15 minute walk from the Marriott (you’ll even pass by Garden Place, the Street where Keegan grew up). For those interested in the Subway from Manhattan, the 4/5, 2/3 and R train will all get you within a 10-15 minute walk.
