Hood River is 75 miles from Portland, Oregon. Guests coming from out of State and abroad can fly into Portland (PDX) and rent a car for the 1.5hour scenic drive to Hood River. Renting a car will give you the freedom to explore but it is not your only option; the Columbia Gorge Express bus goes to and from Hood River ten times each day. It leaves the Gateway Transit Center, which can be accessed directly from the airport via the MAX Red line. This bus takes you through the Columbia River Gorge stopping 3 times before reaching Hood River. Check their schedule for departure times. A note for guest's traveling from Ireland: There are many flight routes to get here but unfortunately, none are direct. Our favorite route is via Reykjavik (Iceland) with Icelandair as it is fastest; just one stop and you have a chance to see the Northern Lights from the plane (tip: choose a seat on the side of the plane facing north on each of your flights).
