In case it isn't obvious, we are big fans of skiing. There's a high probability that both areas of the resort (Olympic Valley & Alpine Meadows) will be open for spring skiing! Take advantage of some of the best spring laps & views anywhere in the country.

Pack your skis or rent a set at 25% off in the link above. Other ski rental options (including clothing rentals) are available at Tahoe Dave's.

Don't feel like tomahawking down KT-22 before (or after) the dance floor? Not a problem.

There are multiple places to rent cross country skis or snow shoes if you still want to explore the mountain.

You can purchase a discounted sightseeing ticket as well ($22 for kids, $33 for adults) to ride the Tram, Funitel, and Base-to-Base Gondola between Palisades and Alpine, and grab some food or drinks at High Camp, Gold Coast Lodge, or over in the base area at Alpine Meadows. All provide great views of the valleys, Lake Tahoe, & Granite Chief Wilderness.

North Lake Tahoe

Go see the lake! It's hard to know what the weather will be like for end of April but chances are there will be places open to rent bikes or kayaks for a day.

Tahoe Scenic Drive

If you're here for a few days and want to explore, take a 72 mile scenic drive around the lake!

Want a shorter trip?

There's a few great lakefront beaches & parks within 45 minutes of Palisades / Tahoe City:

Sand Harbor State Park - 45 min to a great spot on the East Shore. Plenty of parking - hit the Tunnel Creek Cafe on the way back through Incline Village.

Kings Beach - 20 min from the resort, great beach spot with plenty of parking. Walk along the beach or take some pictures from the pier.

Emerald Bay State Park - The not-so-hidden gem of the West Shore. Get out there early for some great vistas and overlooks surrounding Emerald Bay. Parking is more challenging here, but worth the trip!

Hiking

There are many many places to hike nearby- make sure to check all trails and make sure whichever ones you choose are clear of snow!

Scenic Spots

There are so many beautiful places around the lake to check out- here are a few suggestions:

Emerald Bay State Park, Hidden Beach, Skylandia Park, Monkey Rock (short hike), Martis Peak Fire Lookout (9 mile hike)

Restaurants

Here's a list of some of our favorite places to eat in the area:

Gar Woods

River Ranch

1882 Bar & Grill

Squeeze Inn (Breakfast)

Za's Lakefront

There are also a lot of restaurants at the base of the mountain- we love the Auld Dubliner, Tremigo and Le Chamois.
