Where is Kinnitty Castle located?

Kinnitty Castle is located in the heart of the Midlands of Ireland, in County Offaly, specifically near the village of Kinnitty, on the slopes of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. It is a 13th century Gothic revival castle that now functions as a hotel. It's located approximately 70 miles from Dublin city center, with drive time of 1.5 hours.

When should I book my room at Kinnitty Castle Hotel?

As soon as possible! They will be available on a first come, first serve basis. When calling Kinnitty to book 353 (57) 913-7318 with your credit card. Typically it's best to have them charge you in EUR for the exchange rate. Per night accommodation rates based on 2 person sharing: Abbey Court Rooms 100 EUR per person per night, O'Carroll Baronial Rooms 125 EUR per person per night, State/Suite Rooms 145 EUR per person per night. In the event of a third person they will be charged the per person per night rate. Singles in rooms will be charged a 50 EUR supplement fee. Nightly rates include breakfast each morning.

Can I bring a plus one?

On your invitation, we've noted space for you and your immediate family. While we wish we could invite everyone, we're keeping things intimate due to capacity and wedding logistics. That said, we don't want anyone traveling alone, so all guests are welcome to bring a plus-one. We completely understand that certain circumstances may require you to bring an additional guest. If that's the case, please reach out to us directly so we can do our best to accommodate.

Will there be activities outside of the wedding?

Yes. Please see events tab for details of optional meetups to enjoy Ireland with us prior to the wedding day if your travel allows. All activities outside of wedding day are optional.

Can I come for just the wedding day?

Yes. Guests do not have to stay at the castle to attend the wedding day, nor do they need to attend any pre-wedding activities if they prefer to explore other areas in Ireland prior to the wedding.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP as soon as you know if you're able to make the trip or not so that wedding arrangements can be made accordingly. Final RVSP deadline is January 13th, 2027.

Where should I fly into?

We recommend flying into Dublin (DUB airport code) as it's the closest airport to Kinnitty Castle. Aer Lingus currently has nonstop flights from Cleveland (CLE) to Dublin (DUB) which is approximately 7 hours. We recommend for those spending a long weekend (or full week) to take a Friday night flight arriving in Dublin on Saturday morning.

Do I need a Passport?

Yes! All U.S. guests will need a valid passport to travel to Ireland. Make sure yours is valid for at least 6 months from travel dates.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

We invite guests to semi-formal or cocktail attire. Ceremony will be outside if weather permits. We kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing white dresses, out of respect for wedding tradition.

What will the weather be like at that time of year?

In July, Ireland experiences mild and pleasant summer weather, with average daytime high temperatures around 66 and lows of 51-54 degrees. July is generally one of the drier months, but scattered showers are still common. For packing purposes: Expect moderately dry conditions with scattered showers and long daylight hours, making it a good time for outdoor activities, through packing layers, including a wind/waterproof jacket, is recommended due to Ireland's unpredictable weather.

Can I use my cell phone in Ireland?

Yes, but you must make arrangements with your cell phone provider for international roaming or purchase a local Irish SIM card to avoid high roaming charges. Most plans have an option that is as low as $10/day for travel pass options. This becomes essential for those using their phones for GPS while traveling throughout Ireland.

What do I need to know about driving in Ireland?

Please note that driving in Ireland involves driving on the left side of the road, with speed limits and distances in kilometers. Roads range from motorways to narrow, rural lanes. Ireland loves roundabouts. Drivers seat in rental cars are on the right side of the car. Holding a mobile phone while driving is illegal. Driving in Ireland requires a drivers license and insurance to book a rental car.

Can U.S. Dollars be used in Ireland?

No, you cannot use U.S. dollars in Ireland because they are not the local currency. You will need to exchange your dollars for euros before you travel, withdraw euros from ATMs upon arrival, or convert at exchange location. Dublin airport does have an exchange location at Dublin airport conveniently located at baggage claim area. Please note that credit cards are accepted at almost all places within Ireland. Typically we end up using euros for incidentals like tips, tolls, or smaller purchases. You may want to check with your credit card company to inquire about international transaction fees before you leave.

What should I not forget to pack?

For travel to Ireland, you need a type G plug adapter to physically connect your U.S. plugs to Irish outlets.

Is there a time difference between Ireland and the U.S.?

Yes, Ireland is 5 hours ahead of Eastern time.
