Our Wedding

As many of you know Derek and I have been together for 10 years and counting. We met through my brother Kyle as he and Derek played hockey and ball together. The first time I met Derek officially was when we were around 8 or 9, our families were both camping at pike lake, and Derek and Kyle were attached at the hip. Kyle had brought Derek to our campsite where Derek, mullet and all, proceeded to eat my ENTIRE package of oreo cookies. I was furious but considering my quiet nature, I just sat there and glared at him. Derek would say I was "the weird girl who never talked". Turns out to this day he is STILL stealing my snacks. We have grown up together, experiencing every new part of life together. We went to College in Medicine Hat together where we met and created an amazing group of friends who we even now consider family. After swearing I would never move back to Kindersley, Derek ended up with an amazing job, with some incredible coworkers, bought a house and started to settle in Coleville. A tiny village packed with awesome people. Sure enough once I completed my Nursing degree, I landed my first job here in Kindersley and I fell in love with my work team that quickly turned into family. The rest, as they say, is history. Engagement story:One thing many of you may not know is I am a total Jerk when it comes to surprises. I can always figure out my Christmas gifts, and any time there is some sort of surprise happening, I get very nosy and seem to figure it out ruining everyone's efforts. Well sure enough it took Cassidy, Keyana, and Derek all working together to pull one over on me. Derek and I had planned on going to Switzerland for a long overdue vacation and my girls at work had me convinced that I was going to come back from that trip engaged. I honestly loved the idea. But then Derek bought me a couples photo session for Valentines Day. I immediately guessed that that would be when he proposed. Naturally I called my girl Keyana to freak out with excitement. Keyana said Derek hadn't said anything to her about a ring yet and that she would be very mad if he didn't consult her first. After we hung up I found out later that Keyana Immediately messaged Derek and said something along the lines of "She knows! Abort mission!". So plan B. Cassidy and I took a trip to Saskatoon where for the entire day, we goggled at expensive engagement rings, talked wedding plans for her big day, and she proceeded to say, multiple times "oh my god I don't know how I would keep a secret if Derek told me you were getting engaged, it would be so hard to keep it a secret". After we got home, Cass said that Derek had picked up her pups, so she was going to come in and grab them before going home. So blanket hoodie and all I went inside to find Derek all dressed up, with flowers in his hand. I looked back and Cass was video taping and saying "take that off take that off" (my blanket hoodie). Derek took my hand and walked up into the living room where he had hung twinkle lights (my absolute favorite), lit candles, and hung up pictures of us from our entire relationship. He read me the sweetest and most genuine note, and asked me to be his wife.

To say my sister is my hero is such an understatement. I have looked up to Blaine for my entire life and while we used to get in a hell of a fight every now and then, we have grown so much closer as we have grown up. From driving to dance every thursday together, to  getting me through college meltdowns, and now we talk almost everyday (well she holds the phone while I visit with my sweet Aves) I'm thankful everyday that I was blessed with you as my big sister.

I met Keyana my very first day of Nursing school. She sat directly beside me. We soon found out we were in the same program and had the following class together as well, once we compared schedules we realized ours matched to a T. Keyana looked at me that day and said "well I guess you're stuck with me" and we have been bestfriends ever since. Derek and I have relied on Keyana to keep us in check in the more recent years of our relationship, especially when it came to all things vegan, Derek is not a huge fan of this to say the least. But above all else, I found my soul-mate in Keyana, and there is not a day that goes by that I am not reminded of how lucky I am to have her (by her of course). I can't wait to have you standing with me on our wedding day Keeks.

My little Blue Noser <3. Cassidy and I have been friends since grade nine and have recently reconnected when I moved in with Derek in the Big City of Coleville. Naturally since she was only a back alley away, we have become each others side kicks. We have had many wine nights, snacks, movie dates, and puppy play dates together, she got me through a friggin pandemic, and now she will stand with me on the best day of my life. I got through the first few years of my nursing career because of you Cass and I will forever be grateful to have you by my side.

Saaage my partner in crime, my dance partner for life. You my friend are sunshine in human form.  Starting when we were six until today, our friendship has never changed, growing up together and seeing the world change around us has been nothing short of amazing with you. Not only have we grown up together, but you have seen Derek and I's relationship grow from day one. I'm SO thankful for the constant you have, and always will be, in my life.

To my Sweet Baby Cousin. You were my first ever best friend. Inseparable since we were kids, seeing the strong and beautiful human you have grown into has been the best gift. I think about those days I would sleep over at your house and we would laugh until we couldn't laugh anymore. I have so many beautiful memories of us together and adding my wedding day to the list was a no brainer. Love you forever Britt <3

Tanner and I met through my brother when we were basically babies, he and Kyle were friends and Tanner soon realized who the cooler twin was. Ever since Tanner has been one of my closest friends, and also a royal pain in my ass, but every girl needs a friend like that in her life right? Either way, I couldn't imagine my life without Tanner in it, and even more so, I could not make it through my wedding day without him beside me. I'm sure my wedding day and the rest of my life will be filled with laughter and brother-like torture because of you T. I wouldn't have it any other way ;)

Pilot, below average hunter and fisher. Seen this guy pumping gas at the Co-op one day and thought "sure hope I never have to talk to him." Here we are 10 years, multiple canoe trips, a journey to Australia, a trip to Yellowstone and countless memories later, it's safe to say I'm glad I did. Couldn't ask for a better best man. (You could but he was unavailable).

The younger, bigger brother. A company man. I'll never forget in my 3rd year midget hockey, I finally got to play with Riley. We played on a line together where we were looking like the sedin twins, which resulted in us winning exactly zero games. Anyways just like in hockey Riley will have your back no matter what, whatever the cost, whatever the issue he will look out for you and it makes me proud to be his older brother.

Pro tire slinger, elite curler. Shane has been my older brother my whole life.
Shane and I have been on multiple adventures together, from a trip to Thailand, to Yellowstone to a rainy canoe trip. Countless Rush games, and BVJ multiple times. Shane's always down to do something whether it be with or without ya. Proud to share a name with him.

Donny. Semi retired professional amateur athlete. My soon to be wife's twin. My journey to entrepreneurship began and ended with ole Donny way back in grade 8 or so. We made some custom threads, sold none and have been fighting for majority control of the company ever since. We've been friends before I started dating Kel, and he's been there every step of the way in our relationship. I'm truly grateful we will soon be official brother in-laws.

The wisard (cause he's so wise). Joshy has to be the smartest guy I know. Man can spit facts about any subject and has life wisdom far beyond his years. Our friendship first blossomed when we shared a plate of spaghetti at Paintball Bible camp. Since then it's been annual snowboard trips, annual canoe trips (5 years running) and rounds of golf. He's the type of friend you don't have to talk to for months but know nothing will have changed when you do talk to him. The respect I hold for ole joshy is 2nd to none.

The original tow trucking plumber. The most genuine dude you will ever meet. Ask him for anything and he'll move the sun to get it done for ya. I had the pleasure of being a groomsman for Kody at his wedding as well as his wedding commissioner (NBD), so I'm stoked Kody can be here for mine. I look forward to many more laughs and memories in the future with this stud.
