It all started with a tailgate...

While Sam and Kelly did not start dating until a few years ago, they grew up just five minutes apart from each other. They attended the same middle school and high school. They did know of each other, but their paths never really crossed until years later. Sam attended UW - Madison and Kelly attended the University of Minnesota. A few years ago, Sam and Kelly were both attending a tailgate for the Gopher/Badger game. They were rooting for different teams, but they hit it off. Despite Sam’s Badgers losing, he won when he asked Kelly on a date! They went to the Hewing for drinks followed by dinner. Fast forward a few years later, Sam and Kelly were supposed to go to dinner and drinks with another couple at the Hewing. The other couple let them know that they were running late and to order drinks without them. When the waiter came with two glasses of champagne, Kelly still hadn’t caught on. She told the waiter those must be for another table. That’s when Sam got down on one knee, and popped the question! Both sets of parents and Sam’s grandma were a part of the day - they even spent some time hiding in the stairwell together to not ruin the surprise. After lots of wedding planning, and even building a house in between, Sam and Kelly can’t wait to celebrate with their friends and family. See you on August 2nd!!
