Our Story Begins…

Once upon a time, on a Saturday in November when The Beach Boys’ “Kokomo” dominated the airwaves, Kelly was born in sunny California. Legend has it that doctors and nurses crowded in the nursery to exclaim in wonderment at the sight of her beautiful big blue eyes.

Not long after, on a cold March morning in New York, as The Hunt was on for Red October in theaters across the country, Kevin came into the world - and thanks to a heroic catch by his father, did not land on the floor of the delivery room.

Kevin and Kelly’s families moved to Northern Virginia within a few years of each other, but their paths never crossed.

Despite both attending William and Mary and sharing many mutual friends, Kelly and Kevin only “knew of” each other during their time on campus. Still - their paths did not cross.

Finally, our heroes meet…

When Kevin moved in with some of said mutual friends in DC, the two crazy kids born on opposite coasts finally, officially, formally met. After a few early flirtations and group hangs, they shared their first kiss on Kevin's rooftop. Sparks flew! Fireworks streaked across the night sky! (Literally… it was the 4th of July.)

Their relationship blossomed over the following years - saying “I love you” while searching for their Uber in the rain after a Billy Joel concert, establishing a tradition of celebrating Valentine's Day at Dave and Buster's, moving in together and hosting a surprising number of Olympic-themed parties. Kelly was introduced to the culinary delights of The Wicked Wolf, while Kevin learned the secret second verse to the Happy Birthday song. Kelly has now attended more soccer games and become more familiar with Lot 8 of RFK Stadium than she could've ever imagined, and Kevin has been to more musicals than he could have even named before. Through it all, their love has grown and thrived.

It’s been a long time comin’...

Last December, after a few super secret scouting missions, Kevin lured Kelly to the National Mall under the pretense of visiting the National Christmas Tree with friends. Kelly’s ignorance of DC landmarks meant that she had zero questions when their Uber dropped them off at the gardens of the Smithsonian Castle (“They’re running late,” Kevin said, “They’ll meet us here and then we’ll walk over”). As they wandered into the Moongate Garden, Kevin took Kelly’s hand, got down on one knee, and asked if she would marry him - Kelly squeaked out a happily tearful “Yeah!” and they walked together, celebratory hot chocolates in hand, excitement for their shared future in their hearts, into the sunset (just kidding, it was 10am).
