Our paths crossed on a warm night in San Clemente, CA on July 17th, 2019. There was something special in the air at Ole’s Tavern at 10:00 PM – which was typically bedtime for Shawn, but Kelly being the night owl somehow persuaded the first meeting at this strange hour. And believe it was mid-workweek which was also uncharacteristic of normal behavior. The stars were vibrant this night and the universe brought us together. Shawn called out “sick” for the remainder of the week and the rest is history. We knew we found our match and were inseparable since that night.

Soon after we moved in together, into a small one-bedroom apartment near Salt Creek beach in Dana Point. Major jalopy of a home but beautiful spot. Surf, beach, and most importantly a great group of longtime friends. Circle of friends continued to grow with the good times. Surf days at SanO and Creek, and fun cross-country trips to meet our family. Even adopted two dogs together, Gumby – best dog ever – and Fozzy – more looks than brains! We found an easy companionship with one another and a sense of relief; the search for a partner had been met.

the desert became a calling and after a trip to visit Nan (Shawn’s Grandmother); we took a risk and moved to AZ. Backyard pool became our ocean and began to share one of Kelly’s favorite childhood pastimes in telling stories around a firepit and stargazing. Both Gumby and Fozz loved the tandem trips on our ebikes and chasing lizards. Though we are a long distance from our good buddies we have grown fond of our new surroundings.

We are excited for our friends and family to share a special gathering with us in the desert that we have grown to love.
