It began in December 2009, when Kelly came home from college for winter break and returned to work at Tops Supermarkets. Kelly quickly noticed a new cashier (Jake) and commented to her coworker, “He’s cute.” Unbeknownst to Kelly, her coworker told Jake,

and he replied, “She’s old.”

Fast forward to November 2011, Kelly had graduated college and returned to Tops while trying to find more permanent job. One fateful day, Kelly and Jake witnessed a customer get tackled for stealing, sparking their bond.

On January 3rd 2012, Jake brought Kelly to the Buffalo Botanical Gardens and asked her to be his girlfriend. She agreed!

Their years to come were filled with memories. Together they adopted their cat, Meatball. They traveled to Clearwater, Lake Placid, the Keys, Toronto, Ireland, China, Savannah, and the West Coast... And they settled into an apartment together in Buffalo.

Despite a COVID-related delay to Jake’s original plans, the couple made a return to the Botanical Gardens in the summer of 2020.

On July 25th, Jake popped the question - and Kelly said "YES!"

After 9 years together, Kelly and Jake can’t wait to tie the knot and continue their happily ever after!
