Our Story

How we met

It all started 5 years ago at Nix's Tavern (now currently Tavern on the Wharf). Cory and his best friend, Matt, were out celebrating their birthdays at The Waterfront Bar & Grille. Matt's sister texted him and told them to come meet her for karaoke at Nix's and off they went. It wasn't until "Teach Me How To Dougie" came on that Cory noticed Kelly and a friend doing the dance wrong. As they were about to continue talking across the table, Cory got up and sat next to Kelly and gave her his phone telling her to send a friend request to herself on Facebook. Little did she know, he recognized her last name and proceeded to message her asking, "Hey is your dad by chance Captain Paul Foran from the Sheriff's Department?" Cory had interned with Kelly's dad for his last semester of college, and as if the world couldn't get any smaller Cory's Aunt Christine and cousin Maureen knew Kelly from elementary school. They just so happened to find an old picture of them from one of Maureen's birthday parties sitting right next to each other in the moonwalk. Now if that doesn't say fate then I don't know what you would call that.

The Engagement

Flash forward 3 years. Kelly is currently involved in a wedding and the rehearsal is on her 3 year anniversary of dating Cory. So after the rehearsal dinner, she meets him at his parent's house to go drive down to White Horse Beach for a late night stroll on a gorgeous night. Before they got back in their cars, they just so happened to be standing in the same spot where they had their first kiss a few years before. Reflecting on their past 3 years together, Kelly puts her head on Cory's chest, pulls back and asks, "Why is your heart beating so fast?" "I don't know, I'm just anxious," he says. "Anxious about what?" she replies, and he just shrugs and changes the subject to the wedding that Kelly will be in the following day. Then he follows up with, "Well now you can plan your own wedding," as he drops to one knee and asks Kelly to marry him. Her hands go flying up to her face in complete surprise as she accepts his proposal. As she has her arms around his neck hugging him she didn't realize that Cory's friend, Matt, was there taking secret engagement photos. 5 years together, and now the countdown to forever is on!
