If you are traveling in for this very special day...thank you & welcome! Essex, Bergen and Hudson Counties are home to some of the most beautiful parks and hiking trails New Jersey has to offer. Just 8 miles west of New York City, it also makes it an abundant area full of some great shopping and some amazing restaurants. A perfect weekend getaway.
Conceived by Frederick Law Olmsted Sr. in 1867, work on Branch Brook began in 1896. It was the first county park to be opened for public use in the United States. Today, it has been placed on both the New Jersey (1980) and National (1981) Registers of Historic Places.
The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is built on the highest peak in Newark next to Branch Brook Park. The French Gothic Cathedral covers 45,000 square feet, an area equal to that of London’s Westminster Abbey, and is longer and taller than St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
American Dream is an entertainment & retail center in NJ, a stone's throw away from New York City. The mall boasts an indoor theme park, water park, ski slope, & high-end luxury stores.
The Highlawn is the gem of Essex County and is host to the most iconic panoramic views of the New York City skyline. Kelly and Felix are Friday night regulars and are usually found on the dance floor. Friday and Saturday nights The Highlawn is famous for their live music and exceptional food/drinks. You don't want to miss this!
Another one of the Bride & Groom's favorite restaurants is Goodfellas Ristorante in Garfield, New Jersey. Named after the Bride's favorite movie, Goodfellas is warm and ultra friendly restaurant & bar serving large portions of classic Italian food since 1991. Thinking of going anywhere else? Fuhgeddaboudit.
