Where is the wedding being held?

The wedding ceremony will be at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Candler, NC The cocktail hour and reception will follow starting at 4pm and followed by dinner at 5:30. These will be held at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Asheville

A Catholic Church? What if I'm not Catholic?

We are looking forward to sharing our wedding day with all our friends and family. We understand that many are not Catholic or Christian but our goal is for every one to feel welcome! We will have programs at the Church to explain various parts of the service and just ask that you remain respectful during the ceremony while in the church space. Please turn off your cell phone ringers during the Mass, phones may be used for taking pictures! A Catholic wedding Mass is typically about 1 hour long. Please plan ahead especially when it comes to the kiddos and their snacks/nap time/quiet forms of entertainment! We all need a break sometimes. There is a gathering space outside the sanctuary if you need to step out.

What should I wear?

The wedding is in the Fall in Charlotte area. Temperatures will typically be in the 70s. While all of the events are indoors, you may want to plan accordingly and bring a sweater/light jacket. While in the church space we just ask that you have respectful clothing with no significant cleavage. Bare shoulders for the dresses are ok but bring a sweater in case you get cold! MOST IMPORTANTLY THOUGH! The reception will be a pajama party/sock hop theme. While we do not expect everyone to be comfortable in their PJ attire, we do invite those who are to join us in PJs/lounge wear so you can be comfy as you're dancing the night away!

Can I bring my kids?

We love all of the kiddos! Your kiddos are more than welcome to join us on our special day! If they are not used to Church settings, we just ask that you bring toys/books to keep them entertained during the ceremony! For the reception, we are well aware that parents sometimes need/want a break! We will have a room next door to the reception for the kiddos to hang out and color/watch movies/build legos, etc if they would like. We do intend on having babysitters for this room, so we do ask that you let us know if you are bringing kids and are interested in the childcare room so we can make sure we have enough adults on hand! Your kids are more than welcome to stay in the reception the whole night as well, whichever your family is most comfortable with!

Where should we stay? What hotels are in the area?

We invite you to stay at the Embassy Suites so you can head up to bed at the end of the reception! We should have a link updated shortly in the travel section. However, we know these aren't the most budget friendly options. There are many many nice AirBNBs in the area if you would prefer- an option that we highly recommend especially for families!

Can I bring a plus one?

We have tried to account for plus ones for those we know are in relationships at this time. If your invitation did not include a plus one and you would like or need one, please reach out to Kevin or Kelly. We will try to be accommodating if possible but due to venue size restrictions, this will be on a case by case basis. We thank you for your understanding!

What time does the wedding start/end? What time should I get there?

The wedding ceremony starts at 2pm. We ask that you please arrive by 1:45 so every one can be in their seats for the start of the ceremony. There will be a gap between the ceremony and reception to allow for family and wedding party pictures. We recommend you use this time to explore the area, check out a local brewery or even take a nap! The reception will end at 1030pm!

Is there an after party?

We're old. And as much as we would like to party the night away, there are no plans for an after party at this time.

Is there parking available?

There will be parking available at the church but it will be limited due to construction. We are asking that you carpool if possible and we are working on a bus to transport from the Embassy, more details to follow. There is plenty of parking at the Embassy and it is free.

What should we give you for a gift?

We are thankful for any gifts that you think would be good for us as we build our home and our marriage! We have a registry here on the Knot page, but we also have links to contribute to a honeymoon fund and are always thrilled to receive gift cards as well. Thank you again for all of your generosity, we are so excited to celebrate with you!

What should we do during the gap? What places in the area you recommend?

The greater Charlotte has lots of breweries and other places to explore! So we highly suggest you check one of them out. You can check out the Things to Do section on this website for further recommendations!
