FIRST DATE: Kelly and John connected on OK Cupid. Kelly was 30 minutes late to their dinner date and John thought she wasn't coming. Their first date lasted over six hours. The first hour and a half was spent with drinks and free bread because they didn't want to stop talking to place their order. As you might imagine, the waiter was less than thrilled, but he did receive a sizable tip.

MEET THE (GRAND)PARENTS: John helped Kelly move from the all-women converted convent where she was living. Sally, Kelly's grandmother, came to help Kelly decorate her new "city apartment" shortly thereafter. This necessitated John meeting the (grand)parents. He passed with flying colors! (Especially after he and Sally engineered getting Kelly's couch from the resale store, into the U-Haul, and up the elevator.)

COVID ROMANCE: When the pandemic arrived, Kelly came to stay with John "temporarily." Soon they embraced plants, sourdough, and having Tom, their cat, as a co-worker. She never spent another night in her "city apartment."

They also decided to redesign one room in their house, but once they started they couldn't stop (and redid most of the house).

PAPER WEDDING: Kelly and John loved their new life so much they made it official on paper. While they planned to have a official engagement and "church wedding" in the future, they decided to have a "paper wedding" by their house in the woods. Never mind the mosquitoes, it was just right.

ENGAGEMENT: John gave Kelly the official engagement he promised, overlooking the Grand Canyon.

ANSWERED PRAYER: Kelly credits Saint Anthony (a.k.a. Tony), the patron saint of finding lost things, with helping her "find" John (along with her career, parking spaces, lost earrings, the convent (via Sally), and their wedding venue.) So when Kelly and John ran across this statue in Tubac, Arizona, they knew they needed to make him part of their home.

Wrapped in brown paper and string, fellow travelers (and TSA) thought Tony was a large salami or block of cheese.

CONFIRMATION: Although being Catholic was never a condition of their getting married, John chose to become a Roman Catholic. On a very special Easter, John was confirmed in the Catholic faith. Kelly and John now cherish their spiritual life together.

JOY: Kelly and John will be having their "church wedding" at their parish church, which Kelly has been attending since 2016 and John since 2018. It is only a few blocks from where Kelly lived at the convent and has remained a spiritual home for them both. We could not be more excited to share this day and this place with you.
