Kelly and Taylor first crossed paths in 2018 when Taylor (a student teacher at the time) visited Kelly’s choir classroom to assist a special education student who participated in her class. Though Kelly does not remember this encounter (it was concert day and she had her mind a million other places!), it was a small but fateful moment.

Fast forward to March 2021, a time of renewed hope after the pandemic. Kelly and Taylor both decided to give online dating a try and found each other on OkCupid. Kelly was the first person to message Taylor back on the app (after she noticed he was wearing a Redondo Beach School District lanyard in one of his profile photos). Their first date was a beautiful hike at Abalone Cove in Palos Verdes. Taylor did not believe that Kelly would actually follow through on her request for a second date. Kelly was sold on the relationship when Taylor made a home-cooked creation of cedar-plank salmon for her a few dates later. Taylor loves to cook, and Kelly loves to eat his delicious creations!

Kelly and Taylor both share a passion for the outdoors and love to travel. During a special trip to Lopez Island in Washington (where Taylor’s friend Tim often hosts us), Taylor popped the question. Kelly said “Yes” on a cliff with a beautiful view of evergreen trees, the ocean, and playful sea lions.
