Love has a funny way of taking its time—and for Matt and Kelly, it was worth every moment.

Their story began back in 8th grade, when their elementary schools merged into the same Catholic high school. It didn’t take long for a strong friendship to form. Throughout high school, Matt and Kelly were inseparable—he was on the football team, she was a cheerleader, and together they shared the kind of best-friend bond that feels straight out of a movie.

Their connection stayed strong through college at the University of Cincinnati. Even as life moved forward—Matt earning his degree in Business and Kelly becoming a nurse—their friendship remained steady and meaningful.

Fast forward to wedding season 2023, when fate gave them the nudge they'd been waiting for. After attending the same wedding, something shifted. Conversations picked up like no time had passed, and that old spark quickly turned into something more. With Kelly in Cincinnati and Matt in Dayton, they didn’t let an hour-long drive get in the way—weekends were soon filled with visits, laughter, and growing love.

On October 30, 2023, Matt asked Kelly to be his girlfriend. From that day on, everything just clicked.

Whether it’s spending time with their nieces and nephews in Dayton, enjoying nights out with friends in Cincinnati, or simply being together, Matt and Kelly have found joy in the everyday. In October 2024, Matthew made the move to Cincinnati, and the two began truly building their life—and home—together.

Then, on June 1, 2025, surrounded by love and excitement, Matt got down on one knee and asked Kelly to marry him. Through the happy tears and excited shrieks, he heard her say "YES!", and the couple celebrated the moment with both of their families.
