How did Kelsea and Danny meet? The short version: work! But what led them to meeting and ultimately getting engaged?! In 2024 Kelsea accepted a job at Hebron Christian Academy’s special needs school, Lions Learning Academy. Before she could even step foot into the school, people would mention to Kelsea “have you met Danny Mejia?” Or “you and Danny would be a great fit!” Or “you should get to know Danny.” Danny is a high school chemistry teacher and football coach at Hebron Christian Academy. Needless to say, people were really wanting Kelsea and Danny to meet!&nbsp;At the same time people were going up to Danny talking about the new young girl that had just recently been hired at LLA. During that time, Kelsea wanted her focus to be on this new dream job of hers and getting settled at a new school. As the school year started, Kelsea and Danny began to see each other more. Eventually this led to Danny asking Kelsea on a date. But Kelsea wasn’t quite ready to start dating yet… BUT even more so, Danny was both patient and graciously persistent because he knew that there was something special about Kelsea. God had given Danny a patient heart all the while he was working on preparing Kelsea’s heart for dating Danny. Ultimately, they went on a date… a group date because Kelsea was wanting to take things slow, but Danny still remained both patient and graciously persistent. Their group date was with Kristen and Ben at Top Golf. Kelsea and Danny ended the night talking for 3 hours standing in the freezing cold weather at his truck. And as you might assume, this led to their first date with dinner at Kelsea’s apartment. After their first official date and few more dates, Danny went on a mission trip to Honduras. During that trip, Danny was on a work site and got impaled by a fence. After a trip to the hospital and many prayers, Danny was okay and made a full recovery. Through this circumstance, it was then that Kelsea knew there was something special about Danny and the thought of him not being in her life left her wanting to move forward with Danny. God used Danny getting stabbed by a rusty fence to catch Kelsea’s attention and to show her that he was the man He had for her! This was truly a picture of God working all things (both good and bad) for our good and His glory.From there their story took off and began to blossom. The Lord really did begin to write a beautiful love story. In April, Danny reached out to Anna and Kristen to start planning the proposal. In May, Danny and a group went with him to purchase the ring. The original plan was for Danny to propose in June, but once he got that ring he COULD NOT WAIT. “I cannot wait to marry Kelsea!” Was a constant phrase that you would hear from Danny. This ultimately led to Danny moving up the proposal.&nbsp; On May 22, 2025 Kelsea was under the impression that her and all of her coworkers and their significant others from LLA were going to a fancy dinner to celebrate the end of their inaugural school year. This was a plan that Danny and Kelsea’s boss, Cassie, came up with to get her to dress nice and ultimately surprise her with a proposal. Danny picked Kelsea up and took her to LLA where he had candles and sunflowers set up around the school and in her classroom. Why? Because this place is so significant in their story of how God brought Kelsea and Danny together. He walked Kelsea around the school and to her classroom telling her how thankful he was that God placed her in his life, that this place was a pivotal part of their story, and that he couldn’t wait to marry her. Leading her outside to a set up of sunflowers and candles, Danny asked Kelsea to marry him and her exact words were “YEAH! I WILL!” It was a very Kelsea response!&nbsp; During this whole journey of dating, God has both prepared Kelsea’s heart and given Danny a patient and persistent spirit. Whether it was Danny being impaled by a rusty fence, a dream job at LLA , a Top Golf group date, dinner at Kelsea’s apartment, or a made up fancy dinner, God is able to work all things together in His perfect timing to bring about His perfect plan! Their story shows both the redemptive power of God's guiding hand and His deep grace that He gives to us. Only He could write such a beautiful story. -Anna Holman
