We met in 2012 when we ended up playing on the same volleyball team in Downingtown, PA. After our season ended, we started hanging out and eventually started dating. About a year later, Kelsey moved to the Boston area, and after 9 months of driving back and forth between New Jersey and Boston, Evan moved up to join her. This past February we ditched our roommates and got our own apartment in Medford, MA.

Very early on, before we were officially dating, Kelsey made a comment at a party that she would love to go to the ballet, but didn't know of anyone that would want to go with her. Fast forward a few months to Kelsey's birthday when Evan told her to plan for a "surprise weekend about two hours away, and to pack a nice dress." Little did Kelsey know, Evan had overhead that conversation at the party and bought tickets for the New York City Ballet.

Several years later, on December 4, 2014, Evan got tickets to go see the Nutcracker at the Boston Ballet. After a long day in Hartford, CT on a client site, Kelsey rushed back to Boston in time for the ballet. Evan asked Kelsey if she wanted to get a photo with a poster outside the ballet just like in NYC. However, it was cold so Kelsey said no. Luckily for Evan, there was another poster just inside the lobby, and Kelsey agreed to a photograph. After handing off his phone to a kind older gentleman, Evan surprised Kelsey by getting down on one knee. Kelsey had no idea he had bought a ring (he kept taking her to look at rings to keep her from figuring it out) and she had said she didn't want to be proposed to in public (which he ignored), so she was totally shocked and may have said "Are you serious?!" before remembering to say "Of course."
