I was hanging out with my college roommates when our neighbors' party dispersed due to law enforcement presence. Mitch happened to walk into our house with a few other people, because he was friends with a couple of my roommates. We got to talking while watching the scene next door, and then quickly parted ways (I was a little creeped out because Kelsey knew who I was and other details about me, even though we never met). Our next encounter was a fall morning on campus. I was hurrying to class when I heard my name called. I briefly looked around and continued to walk to class (she looked at me with a nervous smile and started power walking as if I was going to mug her). Later that day, I received a Facebook message from Mitch asking if I heard him yelling my name on campus. Our conversation quickly fizzled out. About a week later, we ran into each other again at a mutual friend's birthday party. Mitch was dressed as a beekeeper, and his best friend, Seth, was a bee. As most of you know, Mitch was a beekeeper for quite some time and made delicious honey along with lip balm. At the party, he gave me a free sample of his lip balm. Following the party, another Facebook message was sent by Mitch filled with sarcasm and his phone number, (the message actually said, "when are you going to pay for that lip balm" and I was serious. She still has never paid for it). We spent lots of time together while I tried to convince my friends that Mitch and I were nothing more than friends. We began dating and nearly two months after that, right before Mitch left Cedar Falls for 8 months, he asked me to be his girlfriend. After many date nights filled with delicious food and laughter (I found out how expensive women are and spent literally everything I made that summer on dates) we moved to Des Moines together and started our careers. Shortly after our move, we made one of our best decisions yet by getting our pup, Marlee. We bought a house together and 5 years later, he FINALLY asked me to be his wife.
