Camping at RanchFor those looking to stay close to the celebration, we do have a few campsites available right on the ranch. It’s a bring-your-own-tent or trailer setup and costs $35 per person, per night, which includes a breakfast the next morning. We’ve got nice bathrooms and showers available so campers can get ready comfortably. We also welcome RVs (up to 30') and trailers (up to 26'), though please note—there are no hookups. Camping guests tend to bring a fun, laid-back energy to the weekend—and one of the best parts? No official lights-out time! 🌙✨ If you’re interested in camping, let us know early—spots are limited! Best airport options:✈️ Sacramento International Airport (SMF) - the closest and most convenient airport to fly into, it’s about a 1.5 hour drive to the venue.✈️ Oakland International Airport (OAK) – Around 3 to 3.5 hours away.✈️ San Jose International Airport (SJC) – Roughly 3.5 to 4 hours away.✈️ San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – About 3.5 to 4 hours away. We recommend renting a car, as public transportation is very limited in the area and roads are rural and winding. If you’re planning to stay nearby, we’ll be sharing accommodation recommendations under the Accommodations section to make things easy!

Apple Hill Farms (Camino area) – A collection of dozens of family farms and orchards about 40 minutes from Somerset. It’s an annual tradition for many families in Northern California. In the autumn (Labor Day through December), you can pick apples or pumpkins, ride hay wagons, and snack on fresh apple cider donuts – all very kid-friendly. For couples, the scenic orchards and vineyards offer great photo ops and even hard cider or wine tasting at some farm wineries. Noteworthy: Nearly all Apple Hill spots have picnic tables with mountain views, and many have playgrounds, petting zoos, or nature trails for kids. Couples will enjoy artisanal treats (baked goods, craft fairs) and the romantic vibe of autumn foliage or blooming apple blossoms in spring.

Placerville (“Old Hangtown”) – A historic Gold Rush town about 20 minutes from Somerset, perfect for a leisurely day of shopping and dining. Its Historic Main Street is lined with unique shops, antique galleries, ice cream parlors, and restaurants, all set in 19th-century brick buildings. Couples can browse art galleries or enjoy a cozy meal at a bistro, while kids will love places like the old-fashioned candy store or the Hangtown Gold Bug Park (a real gold mine tour just minutes away). The town’s small-town charm and gold rush history provide a romantic backdrop for a stroll — there’s even a historic bell tower in the center of Main Street. Hours: Main Street shops generally 10 AM–5 PM (vary by store; weekends tend to have longer hours). Noteworthy: Don’t miss the Placerville Hardware Store (opened in 1852, one of California’s oldest) for a quirky step back in time, or grab a sweet treat at the Placerville Soda Fountain. Placerville- Scenic Historic Town

Sutter Creek – Known as “The Jewel of the Mother Lode,” this charming small town in Amador County (about a 30–35 minute drive) blends historic ambiance with modern amenities. Main Street Sutter Creek is very kid-friendly and great for adults too. You’ll find boutique shops, a famous old-fashioned ice cream emporium, and even a family-friendly game store (for a quick diversion with the kids). At the same time, couples can appreciate the town’s preserved balconied buildings, wine tasting rooms, and fine dining (the town is noted for a lively food and wine scene). Stroll the wooden sidewalks, tour the free Visitor Center in the old courthouse, or take a peek at the historic Knight Foundry down the street. Hours: Town is always open; most shops 11 AM–5 PM, and many tasting rooms open on weekends. Noteworthy: Sutter Creek often hosts weekend events like craft fairs or car shows that are fun for all ages. Its picturesque creekside picnic spots and quaint B&amp;Bs (for a possible romantic return stay) make it an ideal day-trip destination.

Sutter Creek - Scenic Historic Town

The southern part of El Dorado County is filled with meandering roads that lead to award-winning wineries, ranches, and Alpaca farms. Here you’ll find the communities of Fair Play, Somerset, Mt Aukum, and Omo Ranch. During the Gold Rush, Fair Play was a prosperous little mining town with several stores and hotels. Today, it’s home to more than 20 award-winning wineries and dozens of farms and ranches.
