Sarah is Kelsey's longest friend and cherished comrade. She is known around town for her immense beauty, quick wit and intelligence. The two met on the very first day of Grade Primary, at Thorburn Consolidated School. Their entire friendship is thanks to their teacher, Mrs. Martin, who forced the two shyest girls to sit together, after noticing how horrible they both were at making friends. Kels and Sar became inseparable, as their social calendars became filled with best friend activities. Girl Guides on Mondays, Art Lessons on Wednesdays, Slumber Parties on Fridays! By the end of the year, the Bus Pass lady had their schedule memorized. This continued on to Middle and High School, where the two joined French Immersion and spent their spring break in Guatemala on a humanitarian mission. Sarah and Kelsey were both very cool and popular.

Rebecca and Kelsey first met as teammates in the Pictou County summer soccer league. Rebecca was a fierce defence-woman from Stellerton. She was swift with a strong kick that could frighten any opponent. Rebecca has amazing taste in music, and bonded with Kelsey over their love of obscure indie bands, such as 'Joel Plaskett" and the "All American Rejects". Rebecca took "Little Country Kels" under her wing, and introduced Kelsey to her "Cool Town Friends". Kelsey always looked forward to hanging out with her summer soccer bud! On the first day of High School, Kelsey was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face in her French Immersion class- Her summer soccer buddy, Rebecca! Throughout the years, together Kels and Bec have played on many sports teams, attended cool live shows, and enjoyed more than a few spontaneous Horsepower beers at The Local.

Tess and Kelsey first met in 2017 in Halifax. Tess is impossible to describe, because Tess is many things. An extraordinary adventurer, a cupcake connoisseur, reality tv expert, makeup guru, a Barbie.com hacker, secret social media maven, and best of all, a fantastic friend. Tess is cool and sweet and so much fun to be around! Tess and her partner Stephen are frequent travel companions to Kelsey and Derek. Tess has been the mastermind behind all of their vacations together. From finding the best hotel deals to snagging reservations at the hippest restaurants, her attention to detail and organized nature have led to incredible adventures to Mexico, New York, Italy, London and Greece. We are looking forward to may more years of laughing, travelling and friendship!

Kelsey's life was perfect, up until December 28th, 1994. The little sister she was promised, turned out to be A BOY. Logan. The horror! Instead of playing Barbies, Logan would rip the dolls' heads off, and throw them down the stairs. After an annoying first ~ 5 years, Logan turned out to be pretty alright. He was a great asset to have on your street hockey team (goalie), and he was always up for a round of Kels' favourite video game, Tony Hawk Pro Skater III or NHL '02 on the PlayStation. Also, one might hypothesize that nursing the Barbies back to health inspired Kelsey's future career. Love you bro!!

Trevor needs little introduction. He's Derek's younger brother and close confidant. Together they share a love of travelling, video games, various nerd pastimes, drinking beer, and general goofing around. Despite a sometimes adversarial childhood, they are now the best of friends and generally enjoy hanging out with each other (most of the time).

Vivian and Derek first met at the McGill Anesthesia residency interview, where they were informed by the local residents to avoid Montreal at all costs for their medical education. Accordingly, they both matched to Dalhousie University, where they spent the next 5 years annoying each other. In the intervening time, they did their best to explore all the Asian food options in Halifax (a pretty brief task), as well as work together on their residency research project (which they jointly presented at ASA 2018 in San Francisco). Vivian and Derek are now colleagues at Scarborough Health, where Vivian continues to bully Derek for his terribly substandard Mandarin language skills.

Ayush and Derek first met at Dalhousie, where Ayush was starting a general surgery residency. After a year of hanging out they moved in together to a condo in Halifax, where they continued to live together for the next 4 years, until Kelsey showed up and evicted Ayush. Despite temporary homelessness, Ayush selflessly maintained his friendship with Derek and Kelsey, and even hosted them for a long weekend in Philadelphia, where he was completing a fellowship in pediatric intensive care (he really likes learning).

Derek and Yang met in undergrad at Western while on an "international aid trip" (read: voluntourism scheme) to the Dominican Republic. Since then, they have followed one another through medical school at UWO, to residency at Dalhousie, and finally to staff practice in Ontario. In Halifax, they were founding members of DARS (the Dalhousie Asian Residents' Society - membership = 2), and also had a serious appreciation for craft beer and good food.
