A Birmingham, AL native born on that SEC rivalry 3rd Saturday in October, the last thing Scotty ever expected was to spend the rest of his life with a girl from Knoxville, TN. In December of 2011, a mutual friend arranged the pair on a blind date for Phi Mu sorority's 'Tacky Christmas' date party at the University of Alabama. Six months of getting to know each other later, Scotty made it official and the rest is history!

Kelsey and Scotty had both made plans to spend New Year's Eve in New Orleans to support the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl. Even though the two were staying with different friends on opposite ends of town, they planned to go to dinner to celebrate their fourth NYE together, away from all the Play-Off game excitement. Scotty made reservations at Mr. B's Bistro in the French Quarter, right down the street from the iconic St. Louis Cathedral, where the couple had taken a picture together every trip to New Orleans.

After dinner, Scotty suggested they go ahead and get that traditional picture. After much reluctance from Kelsey, anxious to go change into sparkly attire and meet up with everyone else, they made their way to the Church. Knowing Kelsey would want someone to capture their special moment, but not wanting anyone to know his plan (he knew all of her friends would spill!), Scotty was adamant about finding a younger girl (someone who would catch on...) to take the photo. The couple posed for the first photograph, when Scotty asked her to take one more as he turned with the biggest grin on his face to get down on one knee.

They were able to share the special moment between just the two of them, with only a few strangers knowing they were now an engaged couple. The next hour of basking in the moment walking around the French Quarter only added to making the moment so special. After first calling all family members to share the news, they then made their way to meet up with all of their friends to surprise them with the news before ringing in the New Year with a little extra sparkle. Scotty had set a goal to propose in 2014 and made it with a few hours to spare for celebration!
