Our Wedding

How We Met

Like many modern love stories, ours began with a swipe. At the time, Kelsey was living in Salem and Jesse in Portland, but distance didn’t stand a chance once we started talking. We quickly discovered a long list of shared interests, aligned goals, and a connection that felt natural from the start. Things moved fast – in the best way possible. By our fifth date, we were on a camping trip with Jesse’s closest friends and family... and even set up our tent right next to Jesse’s parents! This was eventually followed by a trip out to Minnesota to allow Kelsey’s friends and family vet Jesse and provide their nods of approval. Returning from a multi-week trip exploring Chile from top to bottom and still wanting to spend time together confirmed that we had something special.&nbsp; We kept up the long-distance routine for about a year – regular commutes to spend time together, phone calls, and planning for the future – before making a leap that was out of character for both of us: we bought a house together just before our one-year anniversary. Three years (and several house projects) later, that house has become a home filled memories. Kelsey has fully embraced her role as the household woodworker. Measuring, sawing, sanding, and building everything our house was missing: shelving, a custom pegboard for the gym, and even a beautiful porch swing where we love to relax together. On the flip side, Jesse keeps the kitchen warm and the cookie jar full with a steady stream of baked goods. Between the sawdust and the sourdough starters, we’ve found a new-age rhythm that works. Our love of adventure has taken us far beyond our backyard. We’ve skied all over the country, wandered through colorful markets in Chile, and strolled hand-in-hand down winding streets in Spain. Whether we’re halfway around the world or halfway up a mountain, we’ve learned that we make a really great team. In August of 2024, Jesse proposed at one of our favorite paddle boarding spots. Just before Jesse reached for the ring, Kelsey really teed things up by telling him that she was ready to get married. In true Jesse fashion, the ring came out on the water (yes, really), and Kelsey wisely chose not to wear it on the paddle back. That afternoon we celebrated with family and friends at a surprise engagement party at our home, kicking off the next chapter of our adventure together.

Wedding Week Itinerary 

Wednesday, April 15th

8:00 AM Mount Solmar Dog HikeAn optional and free guided hike by a local guide and a group of dogs. The hike is rated moderately difficult and is 1.5-2 hours in duration. Plan to meet in the hotel lobby at 7:30 am and walk to the hike (8 min walk). Note, this hike is daily with exception of Saturdays. No need to RSVP. 9:00 AM GolfGroup Tee times have been reserved at 9:00, 9:10, and 9:20 am at Cabo Real Golf Course for those who have RSVP'd for this activity.Dress Code: Collared shirt, no denim, no athletic shorts, no sandals. Uber to course. 6:00 PM White Beach PartyJoin us for dinner and entertainment on the beach! This is hosted at the resort and has no additional cost. It is a buffet style dinner with live music and other entertainment. We have made a group reservation for those who would like to join. Come wearing white attire. * For guests in the wedding, this will serve as our rehearsal dinner. Please plan on reserving 10 minutes to iron out things for the next day.

Thursday, April 16th

5:00 PM Wedding Ceremony at Plaza FinisterraThe wedding is on flat ground, no sand! Attire is Dressy Casual. Bridesmaids are wearing moss-green colored dresses and groomsmen are in tan suits. Suggested wear for men range from suits to short-sleeved dress shirts with pants and closed-toed shoes. Friday, April 17th

9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Jesse's Birthday at SeaWe hope you can join us on a four-hour private catamaran! Lunch and drinks are provided. It is recommended to bring a hat, towel, biodegradable sunscreen, and money for souvenirs or additional gratuities. To make our guest's travel seamless as possible, we have reserved a room block at the resort. Duration and dates of reservations are flexible. All room reservations are to be booked with through our travel advisors, Ketti and Jessica, to ensure you receive the room block pricing. Ketti and Jessica will help with room reservations, transfers to and from the airport, insurance, and flights, if needed. Please note, if you desire a specific room category, it is advised to reserve the room ASAP as there is a limited quantity for each category. If you wish to stay off of the resort, there is a fee of $100 per person to access the grounds for the wedding. This was customary across all resorts.
