I met Kelsey during the first 10 minutes at a new school 12 years ago. We hit it off immediately and have been the best of friends ever since! From being nerdy science students to random drives around town, we have done everything together. I got to watch as Kelsey and Russell fell in love and created a wonderful relationship, and I couldn't be more excited for them both!

Taylor Kalfayan

Seventeen years - nearly sixty percent of our lives - I've had the privilege of knowing Russell Matthews. From a recording session with the band to the 3am debates in our college apartment, we've done a lot of life together. Having a partner-in-crime through life who has been there through it all, where you're able to say just half a sentence and they already know what the second half will be, helps you both through the rollercoaster that life can be. I'm so excited for Russell and Kelsey to be  each other's newest partners-in-crime, and to make life the most exciting adventure, together.

I am Kelsey’s older sister which means she’s had the privilege of never having to spend a day of her life without me. As Russell rudely continues to remind me, I am her much older sister, but we’ve grown quite close over the past couple of years. As for Russell, he seems okay but we would probably be closer if he would just admit how incredibly young I am. Until then I’ll just have to defer to my sister’s judgement.

I met Russell in middle school when I joined his band. We spent a lot of time at his parent's house recording music and heading to shows with the band. For as long as I've known him, Russell has always had a kind and persevering spirit. Kelsey seems to be a wonderful partner for Russell and I'm honored to be a part of their wedding!

Russell and I went to high school together, and eventually started working for the Davison Marching Band around the same time. Kelsey was a part of the marching band towards the beginning of our time instructing the band. Once Kelsey graduated and eventually started dating Russell, we started seeing and talking to each other a lot. We did not get close until this past year, and now talk every day! Kelsey has become an important friend and person in my life, and so has Russell. It's been a joy to watch their relationship grow from the beginning, and I can't wait to celebrate them on their wedding day!

I met Russell in high school, during a guitar club meeting. By chance, Russell and the rest of his band, Returning Tomorrow, were looking for a new singer, and I was happy to take a chance and try to fill that role. Now almost 15 years later, I'm even more excited to have a role in Russell and Kelsey's wedding as they take this next step together!

I first met Kelsey during our freshman year at CMU, in the dreads of online learning and social distancing. Though I wasn’t keen on friend making, we became closer friends during our sophomore year! I couldn’t be more happy or proud of who I call one of my closest friends!! They’re a wonderful person, and Kelsey and Russell are a beautiful pair!!

Ainsley McCracken

I first met Russell in the same way that my brother Brandon did. It was the guitar club in high school and I remember seeing him and the rest of his band at the time playing a cover of a Motley Crue song. Russell did not seem to be enjoying it, and it was at that point I knew that we would never be friends. Well, a bunch of years later and I'm in his wedding celebrating his marriage to Kelsey. Imagine that?

Nick Haglund

While I don't remember a specific moment when I met and became friends with Kelsey, I just hung around enough to get absorbed! It was like all of a sudden we just accepted that we were going to be great friends, and I never looked back. My fond memories with them include family lunchtime in music school, cramming work last minute in the library, and binging shows in my college appartment. They HAVE kidnapped my stuffed animal cow, but I'll allow it...
As for Russ, Kelsey found a great one. Looking forward to the next time we can all get Jollibee and look at instruments on Facebook Marketplace together. Congratulations, you two!

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kelsey and Russell through my fiancée, Taylor Kalfayan. Over the past four years, as Taylor’s best friend, Kelsey has become an important part of my life, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know Russell along the way. While I can't pinpoint the exact moment we first met, I do remember meeting Kelsey first. As your friendly neighborhood plumber, HVAC expert, and home improvement enthusiast, I’ve had the opportunity to share advice and stories with both Kelsey and Russell. I wish them all the best as they embark on this new chapter together. Here’s to a future filled with love and happiness!

They, Ainsley McCracken, and myself became a trio of friends that produced most of my fondest memories of college, whether we were playing D&D together, performing as part of the CMB, or just simply hanging out. My happiness for Kelsey and Russell cannot be understated, and I wish the two of them the very best in their future together!
