I didn't need any ice breakers to start the conversation... our student orientation leader opened that door for me. I kept asking Kelsey to help me with my schedule to keep dropping hints that I thought she was cute...

July 2010

Okay... after a solid year of hard work and buttering up my friends, Andrew stole me away. We moved from being friends to being in love without really knowing, although everyone else did.

July 2011 

After searching the internet for 4 lonely months in Ithaca, I found a hospital aid position and convinced Kelsey to move in with me. But she made sure that we moved out of my little shoebox apartment into something with more space... so we wouldn't kill each other.

September 2014

After months of living apart again, but not alone (love you Tal!), Andrew moved down to Baltimore to be with me at school. The test run continued with lots of work trips for Andrew and nights of studying for me. The next big step was the best yet...

At this point, I had been planning this weekend for what seemed like forever; keeping this HUGE secret from Kelsey for six months. I took a day off of work to travel up to Vermont with Kelsey to "see one of Nick's football games". The day of his game, we took Rosie and Brady on a walk through Seven Bridges and Dewey Mills Pond. I had not planned more than just the walk. So as we were walking, I was looking for the right opportunity. As we crossed through the path through the pond, Kelsey stopped to take a few pictures of the pond and said "This is just so beautiful, don't you think?". As she took her pictures, I got down on one knee behind her, extended the ring, and waited until she turned toward me. I still don't know what I said to her, but I'm happy something came out... and she said yes!! I had thought of so many opportunities: our upcoming trip to Bequia, my impending graduation; yet I was completely surprised when I turned around and looked straight over Andrew's head. It was perfect. A fall morning, a long walk, we took off on our normal path with Andrew anxious to leave. I turned from taking a photo of the fall colors, saying that "the picture just doesn't do it justice" to find Andrew on one knee, asking me to marry him. I think I said yes immediately, Andrew thinks it took hours, either way we finished that walk engaged and the happiest we had ever been.

Adam is the third Kalish boy, he drinks sparkling cider by the bottle, has a quick wit, and plays the piano when he's home and happy.

Jen is my life coach, my boot camp instructor and the best  hip hop dancer I know... beware when she requests Beyoncé.

Nick is the youngest Porter, local football star and state champ, former karate kid, and giggles when he's tired.

Hailee is a Cali Queen and my own personal fashion advisor and travel agent... oh, and body guard.

Colleen, Brady's second mom in Charm City, will resuscitate the dance floor as a soon to be nurse. Hopefully some of her more southern sweetness will rub off on us.

Aaron is the fourth and final Kalish boy, he's the tallest and will not let me forget it. But I'll always call him Tiny.

Austin was captain of the football team with me in high school and went on to play at JMU, he currently sells beer for a living and loves  every second of it. You wouldn't believe it now but he was shorter than me in 5th grade (at least that's what I remember)!
