I guess our story began the winter of 2016; Kelsi had been pursuing me on several social media outlets for quite some time.
Lucky for her, I was around town when she was visiting from Virginia for holiday break. She enjoyed seeing me so much she decided to come back for Easter break. I put together what most would deem an amazing Easter basket for her. She over indulged on the 5 pounds of chocolate while Nick and Wally enjoyed the bottles of Jack (you’re welcome). Once Kelsi was able to convince me I truly enjoyed everything about her we decided to venture to the outer banks in North Carolina… It was there when Kelsi realized she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me. (Might have been the 2 wineries and a brewery but who’s counting)?
Fast forward a year later, we decided to take the same trip back to the outer banks to see if I had any of the same feelings Kelsi had from day one… turns out I did, and I decided to take a knee on the beach and ask Kelsi to spend the rest of her life with me.
p.s. im still waiting for her to say yes.
Kelsi may have a different perspective on how this all went down...
I believe our story began the winter of 2016; Rob had been pursuing me on one social media outlet (can you guess which one?). According to Rob, we talked on New Year’s Eve… I do not recall, as I fell asleep around 10:00 that night drunk off milk and my Aunt’s savory, chocolate desserts that she sent from Montana. I awoke early New Year’s day in Texas. It appeared that everyone back home was hungover (aka Rob), so I decided to go for a run in the Houston heat (what was I thinking?). Thankfully, after my run, my maid of honor made a wonderful breakfast and this Rob-guy was finally awake.
I was in town a month later after an interview in Wisconsin (it was not a holiday break). It was a typical Friday night and I was starving, so I decided to reach out to Rob who had been anxiously texting me all day. We grabbed a martini and Kentucky mule at Strawberry moon, before having a beer at The Village (real classy place to get to know someone). Fortunately, he didn’t bore me to death with talks about his truck that he was working on (maybe it will be complete by the wedding), the Blackhawks losing, or an upcoming ice fishing tournament.
Lucky for Rob, I love my family and decided to come back to visit for Easter break. He made a wonderful Easter basket (which included my favorite things and a hilarious card… I guess he was paying attention to the hints I was dropping). Yes, Nick and my dad enjoyed most of the goodies that I was unable to bring on the plane.
On the plane back to Virginia, I easily convinced Rob that we should venture together to the outer banks in North Carolina… We visited coastal wineries, slept outside on the hammock, watched the storm roll in over the ocean, and played board games while sipping our favorite beers. I also beat him at mini golf and basketball (funny how he did not put that into the story). Needless to say, it was there that I (and Rob?) realized I could bear spending the rest of my life with him.
Fast forward a year later, we decided to take the same trip back to the outer banks. Rob forgot to set the alarm (3:45am), he left the ring on the bus and his phone at the airport (what a start to the big weekend)! We eventually made it to the warm, sandy shores of the outer banks. Of course, this is not when he proposed. He waited until the wind picked up around midnight to propose in the moonlight. Come to think of it, he didn’t really say much... He quickly put the ring on my finger, so we did not lose it in the sand. We then toasted with champagne and kissed the night away.
Turns out we both had the same feelings, yet different journeys of how our love came together. Stay tuned for Axel’s version of our love story at check-in!
