Our Story

HER SIDE-
May 2022, Matt and I had known each other for over a year when asked he asked if I’d like to see Coldplay… in Chicago. After only a moments hesitation, since we hadn’t even gone out in KC, I sent Matt a message asking if he still had the second ticket.

Despite arriving at the airport well before take off, conversation flowed seamlessly. He ask to hold my hand, we explored the city and we shared our first kiss in a cafe photo booth. While the concert was incredible, what really stuck with me was Matt’s kindness, to everyone. Matt knows no strangers, he is genuine and respectful to anyone he comes into contact with.

By July, we were inseparable. He traveled for work, we spent hours video chatting sharing openly and honestly about ourselves. If not together, we started and ended the day with those calls. We also trading favorite songs, an easy way to express our growing feelings.

I was blessed to meet Kylie and quickly admired the close, open relationship they shared. Matt was patient in letting the boys become used to having another guy “in the mix”. His calm and steady nature has allowed their trust in him to grow. Royals games, lake time and our weekly family dinner provide both laughs and teenage eye rolls as this new family emerges.

Travel and music have been two themes throughout our relationship. Since Chicago, we have traveled to numerous other states and continue to collect a variety of passport stamps. Matt is a thoughtful, easy going, fun loving, good people attracting presence I could not be more fortunate to have loving me for me.

HIS SIDE - May 2022

After getting sober, I always knew that God wanted me to be with a sober woman. Needless to say, small talk and laughter often occurred when Kendall and I were just friends. After asking her to go on a travel date with me to Coldplay in Chicago, and her finally accepting (thank you Bill S. for giving up your ticket), I was on cloud nine knowing that this was a dream date come true! After attending the best concert ever and meandering through downtown Chicago for two full days, I knew this woman was something special. After another few months of talking, we committed to dating each other. I always joked with Kendall that she was my FY (ask me about this at the wedding!) and quickly I found out that God had brought a wonderful mother, friend, woman and leader into my life. Our travels have taken us all over the world and Kendall even convinced me that we could just take a carry-on over the pond to the British Open and Switzerland (I couldn't believe she was right!). Six months later, we found ourselves in Grand Cayman and I proposed to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. I never thought it was possible to have a partner ALSO be your best friend, what a great feeling it is. Excited to bring three young men into Kylie and I's bubble, Gage, Mason and Parker know the love I have for their mother. We now live our lives honestly and openly communicate with each other without fear. I cannot wait to marry my FY! God is good, ALWAYS, and has shown us that trials and tribulations lead to blessings that we did not deem possible.
