Kendall and Aaron connected through the Hinge dating app in April 2021. Having noticed Kendall's profile and appreciation for cheese & bread-based appetizers, Aaron immediately reached out. After about a week of bonding over a love of food and common interests, Aaron asked for Kendall's number. A few more weeks of talking followed, and a Zoom date was set up. Both Kendall and Aaron were incredibly nervous to turn on the cameras, but it ended up being a fun, laid back date. A couple more Zoom dates occurred before both decided it was time to meet in person!

Aaron drove down from Lafayette to meet up with Kendall in Indianapolis. While taking a tour of Kendall's place at the time, Aaron wasted no time in breaking the ice with a first kiss. Talk about a bold move! Following the first kiss, they went pedal boating on the canal, discussed if it was pedal vs. paddle, why would Kendall wear a dress to go pedal boating and the quirkiness of their families. Dinner at the Rathskeller followed the boating, where Kendall and Aaron stuffed themselves full of German meat and potatoes. Bread and cheese too, of course!

After brunch at Good Morning Mama's the following day, Aaron asked Kendall to be his girlfriend. It was official! What followed was almost two and a half years of relationship fun: playing silly card games at restaurants while waiting for dinner, watching endless episodes of Law & Order, cooking meals together, sweating it out at Orange Theory, going to Disney World, seeing their favorite band, Lawrence for the "umpteenth" time & spending time with each other's friends and family. These were only a fraction of the memories made while dating! Spending time together and blending their lives was a priority and a passionate pastime.

In the summer of 2023, Kendall and Aaron talked about going on a picnic. However, due to crazy schedules and the unlucky weather pattern, it never came to fruition. Aaron decided to incorporate the picnic do-over into the proposal! Relying on friends and family, Aaron chose to propose in Holcomb Gardens, on the grounds of Kendall's alma mater, Butler University. What was supposed to be a casual picnic turned into a dreamy proposal with A LOT of tears! After getting the turkey avocado croissant from Illinois Food Emporium (Kendall's go-to weekend lunch sandwich), Aaron and Kendall walked through Holcomb Gardens to find the perfect spot. The perfect spot ended up being a beautifully elegant, picnic set-up, courtesy of Kendall's family. At first, Kendall thought the set-up was for someone else, and commented that they'd have to find a different location and not intrude. Imagine her surprise when Aaron insisted on setting up lunch in that spot! While confusion settled in, Can't Help Falling In Love began playing through the garden. Unbeknownst to Kendall, her close friend, Sarah, was hiding behind a wall, singing the song. At that moment, Aaron grabbed Kendall's hands, got down on one knee and brought her to tears with his promise of "relationship fun," love and forever. Obviously she said yes!
