Our story...

Funny story...

It all started in 2014. Kendra was working at DHS. A coworker who sat behind her was PERSISTENT about Kendra meeting her nephew. At first, Kendra was like “yeah, whatever” as she has heard this line many times before. But persistence is key! One day, the coworker, LaTressa, stopped Kendra and said, “I think you would be perfect for my nephew, let me show you a picture!” She continued explaining how great he was, how handsome he was, and how Kendra had to give him a chance. As soon as Kendra saw the picture, she agreed. He was handsome, and Kendra finally caved in to meeting BJ.

The meeting...

Numbers were exchanged, (thanks LaTressa), and the meet up was scheduled. Kendra invited BJ out to a bar, (one that shall not be named), as it seemed an appropriate place to meet a stranger. Kendra’s friend also worked at the bar, just in case she needed a quick out. After the very awkward introduction in the parking lot, the two headed in. Then, about 3 minutes later, they really hit it off. The pair discussed multiple topics, ranging from what they like to do to their future plans. Before they knew it, the bar was closing. They left that night excited and curious about what the future could be.

The Engagement...

Kendra always felt BJ was the right person, but their relationship wasn’t in the best timing. Months would go by without any communication, but eventually they would always find their way back to each other. After a few years of remaining friends, BJ finally came around to the same feelings Kendra always had. In January of 2019, the sparks flew and by March of 2019, they were dating again. They spent the next year traveling, making memories, and eating at all the best restaurants. Little did Kendra know, BJ had a huge surprise planned; but unfortunately, then COVID happened. BJ was forced to improvise, and decided he did not want to wait any longer to propose. On May 22nd, 2020, BJ completely shocked Kendra with a proposal during a perfect moment under the stars.
