Our Story

We met quite a few years ago, through our Officiant, Karen. He had attended a few of our game nights, and a group trip to the zoo. He had told Karen that I seemed nice, but she ended that line of conversation because she knew I wasn’t ready yet. (I kinda liked him at the time, but neither of them had this information, and the feeling was new for me). She was right to do so.

Fast forward to 2019, where Karen had a small NYE party at her place, and invited Steven and his then 3-yr old daughter, Aria. While Karen’s daughter Ashley played in her room with Aria, we sang karaoke around the kitchen table. (I love a good voice, and Steven has one)! He and Karen (who also sings) did a duet of “Re-write the Stars” from The Greatest Showman. I was wearing a T-shirt that read, “lol ur not zac efron” which, thankfully, he thought was pretty amusing. Something we still giggle about today.

After a few rounds of karaoke, we gladly left 2020 in the past, and welcomed 2021. I had actually entertained the thought of kissing him when the clock struck midnight, but I chickened out. (At least no one else was the wiser). Then we all sat down to watch The Greatest Showman, as Steven hadn’t seen it. I was next to him on the couch, pointing out certain things in different scenes. Everyone else had fallen asleep, so we finished the movie together. It was then that it started to dawn on me that I really liked this guy but, in typical Kendra fashion, I chickened out again and didn’t say a word to him about it.

A couple of weeks into the new year, he asked if I would like to come over to his place to watch movies. I accepted. After viewing a couple bad films, he told me that he liked me, I said the same about him… and that was it. We’ve been inseparable since, and I can’t wait to be his wife!
