Tom and Kendra met at a cookout in Washington, D.C. in August 2013. Both were invited by friends they met while working on Capitol Hill.

Kendra had recently finished a summer program at her current law firm in D.C., and Tom heard all about it that night! They also discussed politics, Tom's love for Florida, and Kendra's Kentucky pride.

Tom didn't ask Kendra on a date that night . . . but it wasn't long. Early dates included happy hour at Sonoma and Nationals baseball games. Go Nats!

After Christmas this past year, Tom and Kendra traveled to the Palm Desert area to enjoy a few days of warm weather and relaxation. Although beautiful for the first few days, chilly temperatures and drizzle forced Tom to abandon his second round of golf. With no other plans, Tom and Kendra relocated to La Quinta Resort and the Clubhouse at PGA West for the evening.

After dinner, Tom mistakenly showed Kendra a picture of a diamond ring on his phone. The next few minutes (or hours) are a blur, but not long after, he walked over to his carry-on, pulled out a small box, and knelt down on one knee. Needless to say, Kendra said yes in the rare desert rainstorm.
