How we met

Ryan and I met years ago while working as lifeguards during the summer. I secretly had a crush on him for two summers, and our coworkers at the pool were convinced we should be together. After two summers of playful encouragement from our friends, Dani finally got Ryan to admit he thought I was cute. Every time he walked me to my car, the other lifeguards would watch on the security cameras, hoping to catch a hug or flirtation. Then, on Ryan’s last official day, he finally asked me on a date—and the rest is history.

The Bride’s Side

Dani and I met through theater in high school. Our friendship really started when she applied for the same summer job as me. Since then she’s been my go-to person when I need a gym partner, a prayer, a run-buddy, some encouragement, or just a good old fashioned vent session. Oh, and I almost forgot… she’s the one who set Ryan and me up!

Laura and I started our friendship in Ms. Seay’s kindergarten class. We have done life together-  church, school, marching band, Bible study, carving pumpkins, singing our lungs out at Middleton tavern. Laura is someone I cherish and I know I can count on for gentle realness and long chats in the parking lot after Bible study.

Megan is Ryan’s sister, but she quickly became a bonus-sibling and best friend to me. From belting out Taylor Swift in the car to our totally Olympic-level gymnastics routines in the pool, every moment together is full of laughter. Whether we’re soaking up the sun at the beach or just hanging out, she’s always the best company. I’m so lucky to have her by my side on this special day.

Kalynn has been in my life since day one, and I’ve always looked up to her—not just because she’s my cousin, but because she’s one of the kindest, most joyful people I know. She’s beautiful inside and out. Over the years we went from cousins to besties and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Brooke and I go way back—all the way to kindergarten! Her mom used to watch me when my parents were at work (which was definitely not an easy job), and together, we managed to get into plenty of mischief—like the time we got poison ivy while exploring the woods. Brooke and I were roommates at University of Maryland, and today she is a friend I can count on for anything. P.S. Brooke, if you are reading this I’m sorry for telling you the tooth fairy wasn’t real when we were 9

Ashley and I grew up together, but we really reconnected in college when she invited me to a concert out of the blue—because that’s just the kind of person she is. If you know Ashley, you know she’s always got the perfect one-liner for any situation and will do anything to help a friend. I’ll never forget texting her, ‘What is a memorandum?’ during my only college English class—not only did she respond within seconds, but she also edited and revised my awful writing in minutes. And when I was quarantining with COVID, she showed up with a bag of Taco Bell at my window, no questions asked. Life is just better with Ashley in it!

Jason and I have been friends since middle school. Being friends with Jason is like having a personal tour guide. A few summers ago, while driving back from North Carolina, we passed some aircraft carriers—and Jason instantly launched into a full rundown of their history, specs, and fun facts.

Chris was one of my roommates at Salisbury, and there is never a dull moment with him around. Whether he’s making us sit through hours of skate videos or rallying everyone for a late-night Mario Party battle, he always brings the energy.

Jared is Kendra’s brother, and back when we worked at the pool together, he was always one of my favorite people to be on shift with. Kendra claims he’s only cool because it runs in the family, but either way, I’m lucky to have him around. Going from coworkers to brothers-in-law is pretty awesome.

One of Ryan and Kendra’s favorite things to do is rack up tickets at Dave and Busters. Over their years together, they saved enough tickets to cash in on an air fryer.

This is one of Kendra and Ryan’s go-to spots! Kendra loves sushi, and even though Ryan isn’t a fan, he happily takes her here just to see her smile :) Bonus Points if you catch a movie at the Annapolis Mall afterwards.

Ryan brought Kendra to Quiet Waters for a picnic to celebrate her 22nd birthday. It’s a special spot for so many reasons, especially the dog park beach.
