Kennedy and Jacob first met through mutual friends in 2021, but it wasn’t until the final Salt Company gathering of the 2023 school year, a college ministry they both attended, that their story truly began. On Kennedy’s birthday, Jacob reached out to her, and just a few weeks later, they went on their first date on June 20th, 2023. Shortly after, Jacob began working for the Detroit Lions. Although they weren’t officially dating yet, they talked every single day. When Jacob moved back to East Lansing, they went on what they now fondly call their “second first date” on March 27th, 2024. Their connection deepened, and on April 16th, 2024, in the greenhouse at Horrocks Farm Market (a favorite date spot) Jacob asked Kennedy to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, they began doing life together. They quickly became inseparable, spending time with each other’s families and friends and, of course, with Kennedy’s beloved dog, Cedar, who quickly fell in love with Jacob. Then, on September 15th, 2025, Jacob knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life serving the Lord alongside Kennedy. In the very same spot where he had asked her to be his girlfriend, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
