For Mason and Kennedy, their love story began five decades ago, when their grandparents first crossed paths. What started as a friendship between two families – the McPhails and the Vaths – would blossom into shared memories, summer and Christmas gatherings, and intertwined lives.

As their parents, aunts, and uncles grew up together, they created a rich legacy of stories that would be passed down through generations. Mason and Kennedy grew up separately but parallel, each hearing tales of the other's family.

Then came August 2021, when the two finally met on the McPhails' dock at Grand Lake. Two days later, Kennedy informed all her friends that she had met her future husband. As she had been so many times before, Kennedy was right.

While Mason completed his studies at Pittsburg State and Kennedy embarked on her journey through law school, they made every effort to be with each other.

For about three years, their love grew stronger with each passing season, each visit, each shared laugh, and each challenge overcome together. Then, in a beautiful full-circle moment, Mason chose the very same dock where their story began to ask Kennedy to be his wife – proving that sometimes, the most meaningful endings bring us right back to where we started.
