Visitor Access to USNA Update - PLEASE READ

Starting May 7, 2025, The United States Naval Academy will require REAL-ID-compliant credentials for visitors entering the Academy. Accepted IDs: REAL-ID driver's license/state ID with star, U.S. passport, or Enhanced Driver's License (MI, MN, NY, VT, WA).

HOW CAN OUR WEDDING GUESTS ACCESS THE NAVAL ACADEMY?

For the Ceremony, you will have temporary access to the United States Naval Academy via group transportation and/or personally owned vehicles. Identification of all civilian guests will be conducted at the installation's Entry Control Point (Gate 1 and 8). Parking on the Yard is first come, first serve. Parking is also available in Downtown Annapolis by the City Docks or in parking decks. From those locations, you will enter through the visitor center at Gate 1.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 1 hour before the ceremony to ensure a smooth entrance into the Academy, find parking, and walk to the Chapel. Guest seating in The Brigade Chapel starts at 1:30 pm. If you are settled before 1:30 at the Academy, you will wait in Dahlgren Hall until the seating begins.

How do I get to the reception?

Parking for the reception is available at The Graduate Hotel via valet parking or parking deck. Walking from the ceremony to the reception is also an option. It is a 20-minute walk from the Academy to the Graduate.

Does the Naval Academy have rules for guest?

Yes! All persons and vehicles entering this installation are subject to search, Introducing a firearm(s) or weapon(s) onto the installation is a Federal Offense, Driving While Intoxicated is an assimilated offense and will be prosecuted in Federal Court, Use of seat belts is required at all times, and the use of mobile electronic devices while driving is prohibited, and Access is granted only to and from the event location. Per the United States Code, guests who exceed access limitations may be cited for Trespassing on a Federal Installation and barred from reentering.

What if I want to visit the Naval Academy before or after the wedding?

The general public is not allowed vehicle access. However, pedestrian access is normally allowed for general visitation, tours, and USNA special events. General visitation hours begin at sunrise and conclude at sunset, with a REAL ID-compliant government photo ID card. You can park in downtown Annapolis and walk to the visitor center at Gate 1. All persons over the age of 18 must have a valid government-issued picture ID, such as a U.S.-issued driver's license or a passport for non-U.S. citizens. Visitors under the age of 18 without an ID must be escorted by a responsible adult with a valid ID at all times. Upon arrival, all visitors may undergo an ID and bag check and screened through a magnetometer before entering the installation. What type of food will be served at our wedding?

During cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres will be served along with two grazing tables. Then, a sit-down dinner with a choice of entree will follow. When you RSVP, you will be able to select your meal.

What is the dress code?

Dress to impress! Our wedding is cocktail attire, meaning women should wear knee-length, tea-length, or midi dresses, and men should wear a suit and tie. Our wedding is a daytime celebration by the water, spring and summer colors are welcomed and encouraged!!
