In 2015, a chance encounter at La Sierra University set the stage for their love story. Kayla had just started her freshman year when she met Kenny. It was at a student fair, where Kenny was representing Roots Ministry. For Kenny, it was a moment of love at first sight.

Their shared passion for ministry and music became the foundation of our friendship. Over the course of three years, their friendship deepened. Life took an interesting turn when they both started working in Spiritual life, planning their weekly Chapel program. Fun fact, Kenny was actually Kayla's boss! Talk about a workplace romance haha.

One Saturday, Kenny invited Kayla to Crosswalk Church, where he was involved in the music ministry. That day marked a significant turning point in their relationship. It was then they both realized that their feelings for each other had grown beyond friendship. The rest is history!

On June 12, 2023, Kenny planned a special moment that would change their relationship forever. He had planned to take Kayla to a good friend's studio to record a music cover, pretending it was for church. Little did Kayla know that she was about to be asked one of the most important questions in her life. Kenny decided to record a rendition of "Been so Good" by Elevation Worship.

After completing their heartfelt rendition of the song, Kenny turned to Kayla, his eyes filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. He proposed that they do another song, one that held a special place in both of their hearts - "When Somebody Loved Me."

As the song finished, Kenny turned to Kayla. He spoke of how these two songs had come to represent their relationship. The first song symbolized God's unwavering faithfulness to both of them, serving as the foundation and center of their love. The second song embodied their own faithfulness and deep love for each other.

And so, in the studio where music had always been a backdrop to their love story, Kayla said "yes" to spending the rest of her life with her best friend.

Kenny and Kayla both continue to serve their church communities through music ministry. On their free time, they love to discover new food spots, brainstorm creative musical arrangements, and take their puppy Luna to the dog beach!

They both can't wait to start this new chapter of their lives together as husband and wife, and they look forward to many more adventures and beautiful moments ahead.
