Nico and I met on the dating app OkCupid towards the end of the summer in 2020. I drove down to Racine to visit this person who I'd been chatting with for a month. I knew he seemed nice, intelligent, VERY opinionated, and had a great sense of humor. A pretty handsome mand too-- With nice eyes, sharp nose/jaw, incredible smile, and a face that immediately gives away his opinions/emotions.

Since I was in the middle of a major transition point in my life; I'd just moved to Wisconsin barely 9 months before from New Mexico. I wasn't sure if anything would come of it and I was mostly excited to use this last weekend before school started exploring somewhere new to me-- Racine, Wisconsin.

When I got there, I met him in front of his house as he was running behind and needed to get ready. We started walking towards downtown. We walked by the zoo and the beach (his favorite place in Racine), we went to a cute bar in downtown, and just chatted about life. We discovered that we both have a passion for geography, travel, and enjoyed many of the same books.

I left our date asking when the next time I could see him was and he replied "what are you doing next weekend?"

We continued going back and forth from Racine to Neenah every other weekend for the next year. We also traveled to California, Michigan, Iowa, and New Mexico to meet each others friends and family.

Then in August 2021, Nico accepted a Spanish Teaching position at Oakfield High School. So we moved into an apartment together in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. We've continued to travel and have added Minnesota, Illinois, Virginia, and our first foreign country together when we went to Cozumel, Mexico.

Nico proposed on October 16, 2022 and the rest is history...
