It all started back in 2010 when we were bussing tables at Giordano's restaurant on Martha's Vineyard. 14 year old Matt, Bieber haircut and all, eventually built up the courage to talk with Kenzie through Facebook chats (which we still have but can't bear to read given how cringey they are). Every Summer we both returned to Gio's, excited to see the other, and slowly developed a nice friendship. At 16 we shared a Summer fling which eventually came to an end when reality on the mainland resumed that Fall. Throughout the remainder of high school and college we dated other people but always thought, "what if" about the other.

In 2018 we had both just graduated from college and would be returning to the island, single, for our last summer at Gio's. This time it was Kenzie who had to build up the courage to talk to Matt, but instead of using Facebook messenger she asked him to get a beer after work one night to catch up. We sat for hours talking. Our years-long friendship quickly grew into something more and this time when Fall approached, we couldn't wait to start our lives together back on the mainland.

5 years later we were skipping rocks (as we often do) at State Beach on a gorgeous summer evening. A few minutes in, Kenzie turned around to grab her next rock when she saw Matt on one knee. Several happy tears later, we sat on the beach for hours as we always do, reflecting on our long history and dreaming of all to come in our future. We are so excited for this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with all of our closest friends and family!
