Our Wedding

From our very first date, we quickly discovered how much we shared: a love for laughter, the outdoors, and quiet evenings together. Our instant connection soon grew into a deep friendship that became the foundation of everything we are. Our story has always had a little adventure in it, from spontaneous road trips and mountain hikes to cozy nights in with coffee, cards, and our two huskies - Cooper and Felix. We’ve explored trails, cheered each other through milestones, and built a life together rooted in kindness and laughter. We love traveling, camping, being on the water, getting competitive over board games, reading side by side, and re-watching our favorite series (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and a never-ending rotation of sitcoms). We’ve climbed a few “summits” together, both on trails and in life, and each one has made us more grateful for the journey we share. In May 2024, we exchanged traditional vows surrounded by our parents and siblings on a quiet bike trail in Iowa. It was a simple, heartfelt day. Now, we can’t wait to re-tie the knot and celebrate in the mountains, where we feel most ourselves. We couldn’t imagine a better place to say “I do” than at Riversong Reunion Lodge in Grand Lake, surrounded by family, friends, and the stunning scenery that means so much to us.

Kenzie and Allison have been best friends since childhood. There’s truly no one who can light up a room quite like Allison. She’s hilarious, loving, and always the life of the party. Kenzie’s favorite times with Allison are often the simplest ones, doing absolutely nothing and laughing until they can’t breathe. She’s also the best listener, always hyping Kenzie up and offering support even when she’s heard the same story or complaint a hundred times. No matter how many months pass between visits, it always feels like no time at all. Allison has been the ultimate supporter, constant source of laughter, and forever friend.

Allison

Cody and Jake first met in high school, though Cody wasn’t Jake’s biggest fan at first (turns out, really bad jokes can be an acquired taste at first). But after bonding over video games, whiskey, and camping, they became inseparable. Their friendship has taken them from high school hangouts to sitting on the Gulf shore beaches, wedding dance floors, and now to watching Jake rock the dad life with his little boy. Cody is honored to have Jake by his side once again for this next chapter.

Jake

Devan and Kenzie met in medical school and quickly became inseparable. Devan’s kindness, dependability, and steady encouragement have been constants through never-ending study sessions and everyday life alike. She’s the friend who always listens, keeps things grounded, and knows exactly when it’s time for coffee or a good vent about the healthcare system. Simply put, Kenzie couldn’t have survived medical school without her — or without their shared love of baking, paddleboarding, and a memorable med school vacation spent together in Leadville, CO.

Devan

Cody and Chase go way back to middle school, where their friendship first took root. From cross country practices to countless nights around bonfires to “studying” math while watching Beavis and Butt-Head (jury’s still out on whether they got smarter or dumber), they’ve shared plenty of laughs and memories over the years. Cody’s had the joy of watching Chase marry the love of his life and become an incredible dad to his sweet little girl.

Katie was Kenzie’s college roommate for all four years and is one of those rare friends who instantly feels like home. She’s always ready for a trip down memory lane, late-night deep discussions about literally anything, and endless inside jokes that probably aren’t that funny to anyone else. She’s thoughtful, the best partner for late-night snacking, and the kind of friend you can talk to until 3 a.m. — and Kenzie wouldn’t have it any other way.

Katie

Cody met Jesse at a dog park when Cooper hit it off with Jesse’s dog, Rupert. On the drive home, Cody thought he was being followed—and, well, he was… straight to Jesse’s house a block away. From there, their friendship took off, filled with countless garage and bonfire nights as bachelors and plenty of meals out together. Cody’s loved seeing Jesse go from dog-dad days to becoming a wonderful husband and father to his two kids. And now, he’s honored to have him as part of the wedding crew!

Jesse

Hannah and Kenzie first met during orientation before college, but their friendship truly began when Katie said, “You have to meet my friend Hannah!” only for everyone to realize they already had. From there, the three became inseparable roomies. Over the years, Kenzie and Hannah have shared countless memories, including a slightly traumatic (and now hilarious) near-death experience with a tornado, which they ALL agree was entirely Hannah’s fault. She’s the friend who always has the perfect pun, an unexpected fun fact, or a clever one-liner to make everyone laugh. Watching Hannah step into motherhood and absolutely thrive has been so special — Kenzie couldn’t be prouder of the amazing mom and friend she is.

Hannah

Cody and Matt spent about seven years working side by side at Ackelson Sheet Metal, where friendship grew somewhere between long workdays and shared laughs on the job. Outside of work, they made just as many memories—backyard parties, bonfires, golf outings, and many of those “just one beer, one shot” nights that never stayed quick. Through the years, Cody’s appreciated Matt’s easygoing humor, and it’s been especially fun watching him step into this next chapter as a husband and proud new dad.

Matt

Alyssa is Kenzie’s sister-in-law and married to her brother, Mitchell. She’s the best sister Kenzie could have asked for: kind, loving, and quietly hilarious. Alyssa has fully embraced the family’s competitive game nights, keeps Mitchell in line when needed, and is always up for a good venting session. Though she won’t be able to attend the wedding (thanks to impeccable timing — she’s due to welcome Kenzie and Cody’s niece or nephew the week prior!), she’ll be celebrating from afar and will be deeply missed on the big day.

Alyssa

Mitchell is Kenzie’s big brother and lifelong partner in laughter. He’s the comedian of the family, always down for a good time, and Allison’s main rival for “life of the party.” Known as the self-proclaimed best amateur DJ for any road trip (as long as you don’t mind never hearing an entire song), he keeps everyone entertained wherever he goes. He’s also the reason Kenzie is so competitive at board games and cards — years of sibling rivalry will do that. Loving, sometimes kind, and already planning to move into Kenzie’s future guest house, Mitchell truly is the best big brother she could ask for.

How do we get to Grand Lake?

Getting Here by air vs. the open road

You’ve got two options:1. Fly into Denver International Airport (DEN) and make the 2-hour mountain drive2. Go full road-trip mode — it’s about 13 hours from Iowa (depending on where you’re coming from). We recommend renting a car or carpooling with other guests if you decide to fly to make the most of the beautiful mountain drive! Mountain driving can take longer than it looks on a map, so give yourself extra time to enjoy the views (and occasional elk crossings!).

Driving to Grand Lake

Whether you’re road-tripping or driving from the airport, the journey to Grand Lake is half the adventure! From Denver International Airport (DEN), the drive is about 2-2.5 hours. There are two main routes:1. Berthoud Pass (US-40 through Winter Park) – the most common route year-round, winding through mountain passes with beautiful views.2. Trail Ridge Road (US-34 through Rocky Mountain National Park) – open seasonally (typically late May to mid-October, weather dependent). Getting Around Grand Lake

If you’re flying in, we recommend renting a car or carpooling with other guests from the airport. Having a car makes it easy to get to Grand Lake and explore during your stay. Once you’re in town, Grand Lake is very walkable — the lakefront, shops, restaurants, and several trailheads are all within a few minutes on foot. There’s also free and easy parking throughout town. ***Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are very limited in the area, especially at night, so it’s best not to rely on them for local travel.
