Start heading west and you'll realize one of the main reasons we love Colorado: The Mountains! There are unlimited hiking trails within 30-45 minutes from the city. Boulder, Morrison Red Rocks, Eldorado Canyon, Golden, and Castle Rock are all relatively close with great hikes and views.

As you head further west into the mountains, the views get even better, and September is a great time to see the fall leaves start to change. Head up to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes if you have time, but even a drive up I-70 will get you some pretty amazing views with nice mountain towns along the way.
