Can I use my credit card or U.S dollars in Guatemala?

Many places in Guatemala accept credit cards, but your bank may charge international transaction fees, so we recommend checking with them beforehand. While U.S. dollars are sometimes accepted, it’s highly recommended to exchange your cash into quetzales, the local currency. You can easily exchange money at the airport upon arrival for convenience.
