Love at First Site

photo

Even though we both grew up in Bishop, Chloe and I never crossed paths until September 5th 2017.

We finally walked into the same room together, and shared our first look. Now I know it sounds like a cliché from a bad movie, but this is true. As we looked at each other for the first time, time slowed down, and it almost stopped completely.

Our first conversation started 5 minutes later. We talked the entire night. At one point I even paused to text now groomsman Corey Mullenaux “I think I just met my wife.”

The next night we spent together once again. The photo directly above this story was from our first official date out at sushi, that was night 3.

We were inseparable from the start. Then on September 15th, just 10 days after we met, I asked Chloe to be my girlfriend. She happily agreed. I was so proud.

About 2 years into the relationship, I began looking for an engagement ring. This took almost a year. I was searching really hard to find the perfect piece. I just kept thinking, you’ll know it when you see it. Her ring comes from a small manufacturer in Israel. We think it’s perfect.

We were engaged on September 12th, 2020. At that time Chloe finally understood why I had been carrying my camera bag around everywhere we went for the previous 6 months. It wasn’t because I’m a dedicated photographer. Her ring was hidden in the bag. And I was going to get that ring on her finger safe and sound no matter what.

So I proposed that evening just above the town of Paradise, just off the old two-lane 395 Highway at sunset.

Overlooking much of the Owens Valley, she said yes!
