Kevin and Dean met in the September of their freshman year of high school. They both went to High Point Regional High School. They started dating in the October of the same year. They both were soccer players and both played on the Varsity team all four years. Kevin was a goalkeeper and Dean was a striker.
They both also did basketball. Kevin was a point guard and Dean was a Forward Center.
For their first date, they went to El Patron, a Mexican Restaurant in Port Jervis, New York. The first time that Kevin met Dean's family, they went out to Buckhill Brewery in Blairstown. Dean's parents, Owen and Kiera, were very impressed by Kevin and his personality. Dean's brothers, Ian and Adam(one of his 2 best men and one of his 4 groomsmen) also liked Kevin right off from the start. The first time that Dean met Kevin's family, they went out to dinner to Applebees. Kevin's parents, Andrew and Ariana, were very impressed by Dean and his personality. Kevin's brothers, Shane and Eric(one of his two best men; and one of his 4 groomsmen) also liked Kevin right from the start.
During their senior year, Dean decided to enlist in the marines. Kevin said that he was okay with being a military boyfriend. So, after graduation from high school, in August, Dean went off to Basic Training at Paris Island, South Carolina. Kevin went to Rutgers University at the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus. He attended the college on a full sport scholarship for soccer. Kevin played soccer for Rutgers as a goalkeeper. They chatted almost every day over facetime during Dean's Basic Training.
After finishing his Basic training, Dean was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His first deployment was to Kuwait Iraq. He was deployed there for 6 months and left in June of that year. Even though it was a long time, they were completely disconnected from each other. They were able to Face Time each other almost every day. Since he was coming home from deployment in December, Dean wanted to make his first ever deployment homecoming to be special not only for himself, but also for Kevin. Kevin knew that Dean was coming home in December but didn't know the exact date. Dean had gotten in touch with Kevin's cousin, Matt, his best friend from the military Daniel, Kevin's older brother, Shane, and his own older brother, Ian, saying that he wanted to surprise Kevin at the college. Matt, Daniel, Shane, and Ian all agreed to help him set it up. Matt and Daniel got in touch with the dean of the area that Kevin was doing and asked if they could help Dean do a special deployment homecoming surprise for Kevin. The dean was all for it and they coordinated with each other.
The week of the surprise, Dean flew into Newark Airport at 9:30pm. He was met out at the terminal's pickup line by Matt and Daniel. They drove him to a hotel near the campus and that's where they stayed until the day of the surprise. On the day of the surprise, Kevin was in his English Seminar class. Dean had decided that he wanted to wear his uniform to the surprise so that it would be convincing that he had just came home from deployment, rather than it be that he had been home a few days earlier. He was joined by Matt, Daniel, Shane, and Ian and they all walked to the part of the campus that Kevin's class was in. Shane and Ian both walked into the class and was talking with the professor and the dean along with Kevin himself. While that was going on, Dean, Matt, and Daniel quietly entered the room and Dean snuck up behind Kevin. Kevin had felt that there was someone behind him but didn't want to assume. Than Shane said"Kevin, we have a surprise for you. Turn around and see what/or who it is." Kevin turned around and right away got emotional when he saw that it was Dean who was behind him. For a split second, Kevin thought that he was imagining that Dean was right there. But than he gave a giant hug to Dean and everyone was clapping and cheering for the two's reunion.
After the deployment and his surprise homecoming with Kevin, Dean was restationed at Camp Lejeune. 2 months afterwards, he messaged Matt and Daniel saying that he wanted to propose to Kevin. They agreed to help him plan it. He asked them to fly down to North Carolina and help him pick out a gay engagement ring for Kevin. They also coordinated with Shane and Ian to help with it too. They planned to do it On the day of the proposal, Daniel and Shane went to go help Dean set up everything at the site. Matt let them use his vlog camera for videoing. Matt and Ian was with Kevin. Daniel messaged Matt saying everything was ready to go and that they could bring Kevin up to the site. When they got near, Matt and Ian blindfolded Kevin so that he wouldn't see it right away and guided him to the site. They took off the blindfold and Kevin got super emotional when he saw Dean with candles around them. He got even more emotional when Dean got down on one knee. When Dean asked Kevin to marry him, Kevin said yes right off the bat. Matt was vlogging off of his phone while Daniel was vlogging off of Matt's vlog camera off on the side. Then after he said yes, Daniel and Shane popped out of their hiding places.
