Is Peru Safe?
Peru is generally safe, but in recent years crime has elevated. We recommend you stay alert by keeping an eye on your belongings and being mindful of your surroundings, especially in busy areas. Blend in by dressing modestly and keeping valuables out of sight (like cell phones, jewelry, watches etc.) to avoid standing out as a tourist. Use trusted transportation options like registered taxis or ride-sharing services for added peace of mind.
What's the best way to get to the venue?
We will provide transportation to and from the venue from the JW Marriott Hotel (there will only be certain times the transportation will leave the venue to go back to the hotel), but if you need to provide your own transportation you can hire a taxi/Uber/Cabify. The venue is about 50 minutes outside of Lima.
What the address of the venue?
The venue is called Mystic House. The address is Avenida Luis Felipe de las casas KM 17.5 Cieneguilla, Lima, Perú. Ceremony and reception will be at the SAME venue.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
Dress code is formal, women should be in long dresses and men in suits with ties. Bridesmaids will be wearing pink.
Our reception will be taking place on a grassy field, so ladies, please keep this in mind when choosing your footwear!
Where are you registered?
Many of you are traveling across the globe to celebrate with us in Lima, so your presence means the world to us and is all we ask for. But for those of you who are stubborn, we would appreciate a contribution towards our Bali honeymoon fund (in the Registry tab). We appreciate your generosity to create the honeymoon of our dreams!
Can I bring a plus one?
We are at capacity with our venue which means we are sadly unable to accommodate additional guests unless they are specifically named on the invitation. Thank you so much for understanding. We look forward to celebrating with you on the day!
Am I allowed to bring my children?
As much as we love your little ones this is an adult-only celebration, with the exception of children specifically named on the invitation. We hope this advance notice means you’re able to let your hair down and celebrate with us on the day!
What's the weather like in Peru
The average high in Lima for April is 76F and the average low is 64F. For May it's 72F and 62F. In Cusco, the average high in April is 68F and the low is 42F. In May it's 68F and 37F.
How should I get to my hotel from the airport?
We highly recommend getting a taxi from the official taxi counters located right after baggage claim, inside the airport, before exiting to the public access area. We use Taxi Green, price to Miraflores is ~$20-$30, you can pay with card or cash. The Miraflores district (where the hotel is) is generally very safe, but the way from the airport to Miraflores may not be. Please be careful with your personal items.
How do I get around Lima?
We recommend using Uber or Cabify (similar to Uber, but is through a licensed taxi).
Should I rent a car while in Peru?
We don't recommend renting a car if you've never driven in Peru before. There are a lot of different options for booking transport, and generally it's inexpensive.
What if your wedding was amazing and I want to see more of Peru?
Peru has so many wonderful things to see and do, and we want everyone to enjoy it as long as they want. We kindly ask that you consider traveling after the wedding to ensure you that potential delays don't conflict with the wedding.

Don't forget to notify your bank that you'll be traveling outside of the US to avoid any issues with your credit card. Although most places take credit cards, we recommend bringing some cash. You can exchange Dollars for Soles (the Peruvian currency) in Miraflores for a lower rate than the airport. You can also easily withdraw Soles from an ATM (fees may vary) if you don't want to go through the hassle of exchanging. Lastly you can order foreign currency through your bank before you leave for Peru. All prices in Peru include taxes.
Tips for Restaurants
Tips at most restaurants and bars are not expected but at nicer restaurants about 10% - 15% would be okay. Tips are not usually included on the check. When you pay at a restaurant with a credit card, they will bring the payment terminal to the table. Here you will have the option to include a tip, and they will ask you if you want to pay in Dollars or Soles. We highly recommend paying in Soles since your bank will make the conversion themselves at the market rate. If you pay in Dollars and have the restaurant make the conversion, it's usually a much higher mark up.
When you buy anything, you are usually asked to picked between "Boleta" or "Factura". Pick "Boleta" (for consumers instead of business accounts).
Can I use my current cell phone plan while in Peru?
It depends on your carrier and plan you have with them. Some carriers offer service at no additional charge in Latin America so make sure you check with them. If your carrier or plan doesn't have this option, you can buy a sim card at the airport in Lima, or you can look up e-sim cards. E-sim cards are virtual sim cards so you don't have to worry about swapping your physical sim card and losing it. You can only swap sim cards or use an e-sim card if your phone is paid off fully and your sim card is unlocked. You can check this by going to Settings->About and scrolling down to Carrier Lock. If it says "No SIM restrictions" you're good to go. If not, call your cell provider.
Are my chargers and other electronics able to be plugged into the wall?
In Peru, the power coming out of the wall is 220 Volts while in the United States its 120 Volts. This means that you need a voltage converter to use your electronics if they're not rated for the higher voltage. Please double check your hair straighteners, hair dryers, steamers, etc before you leave. Your smartphones should all be able to handle the higher voltage.
